What made you choose football?
Growing up, my best friend’s dad was a high school and NFL coach. For as long as I can remember, every Friday Night in the Fall, we would be by the sidelines – playing our own games. Sometimes we would ride the team bus home after road games.
What’s your favorite football memory?
Sophomore year – completing my first pass on the Varsity level. A trick play called ‘Dove Costigan’ – I caught a lateral and threw a 42 yard completion down field.
What activities do you enjoy outside of playing football?
I play point guard for Conestoga Varsity Basketball. I also enjoy spending time with family.
What has been the most difficult part of training during the pandemic and how did you overcome it?
The most difficult part was dealing with the cold, rainy weather in March and April. Thankfully – just as quarantine began – our neighbor sold us a high quality weight set. In a day – we turned our garage into a gym. My younger brothers and I worked out every day. As quarantine restrictions began to ease – I invited teammates to join us.
Who is your biggest role model?
My Grandfather. He suffered a stroke when I was one year old. Each day, he struggles just to do the little things that many of us take for granted. He never complains. He always leads by example.
What are your team and personal goals for the season?
I’m looking forward to just getting back out on the field with my teammates/brothers – and showing everyone what we can do together. This pandemic has taught me to appreciate every moment – because we never know when it will be our ‘last play’.
What’s your favorite sport, other than football, to play or watch?
What are you most looking forward to this upcoming school year?
Walking the school halls – and seeing friends I haven’t seen in a while.
What have you been doing during this pandemic to make sure that you are ready to go once we can finally get back to football?
Senior Leaders have been sponsoring ‘players only’ practices. We would find a field, run our drills, and compete Offense vs Defense. At a practice in early May, the police showed up – only to make sure coaches/adults were not present. We were relieved – and happy to know the community supported us.
