What does your offense need to improve on from last year?
We need to improve on the consistency of our execution. We had several opportunities last year to stay on the field or score and we just made simple execution mistakes. We were never able to find a real groove. The keys for success this year will be to improve on our performance in key situations. We need to work hard on our fundamentals in practice to eliminate those types of errors that cost us drives or points last year. To make that happen we will need our experienced group of skilled players to lead by example in both their confidence and level of play. We will also need some new leaders to emerge to fill heavy losses to graduation on our offensive line and quarterback positions.
What does your defense need to improve on from last year
Our defense needs to understand the “why” in our scheme which will allow them to think less and play faster. The less our players have to think the more effective we can be, from there are number one priority is all eleven players running to the football, tackle in a swarm with great angles and aggression. Specific improvements are creating more turnovers while limiting explosive plays from the offense. Winning first down to allow us to open up different looks on second down, and ultimately getting off the field on third down.
