LET’S GET TO KNOW CHARLIE NEWHALL

Why do you play football?

I play football because it gives me a purpose. It gives me the chance to play a game I love with my best friends and has taught me that if you work hard enough you dreams will follow.

Who is your favorite sports star and WHY?

Definitely Kobe Bryant, because of his work ethic. Kobe wasn’t know for his championships or his level of play he was know for his work ethic and that’s what I want to be remembered as the hardest working guy in the room always.

Do you have a favorite play you remember the most? Explain:

Last year we were playing Haverford, a big rival of ours, it was a very close game and to score the first touchdown I was rushing the passer and I hit the quarterback and he fumbled and our Defensive Tackle Jimmy Marturano scooped it up and ran for 40 yards to score was one of the most fun plays I have ever been apart of.

What was last years season like for you?

For me last years season was all about finding my place and gaining the trust of my coaches and teammates and by the end of the year everyone knew I had their back and they could trust what I was going to do.

What are your goals for this coming season?

For this up coming season I would like our team to win a playoff game and continue on to win a second. For my personal goals I want to nominated to the all state team.

What stadium, HS/college/pro would you love to visit for a game?

I would love to visit Beaver stadium. I have always been a Penn state fan but have never been able to go to a game and it has always been a dream of mine.

What is your favorite Pro team, any sport?

My favorite pro team is the eagles. I was born and raised a die hard eagles fan. My dad will watch ever game to gather and this past year we went to a game for the first time together and it was amazing.

If your mom and dad are screaming at you from the stands, what is it they usually yell?

My parents have actually don’t yell at all from the stands they believe in my just going out there and having fun and trust that I know that they are supporting me.

Who is your mentor, the person you want to be like? WHY?

This year I actually gained my biggest mentor. His name is Sandon Herzlich he has helped me through my football journey this year and has given me the motivation to chase it. He is the father of Mark Herzlich a living legend at my high school and I look up to these two every day. Coach Herzlich would hype me up before every game this year get me in the right head space and in this off-season has guided me in all the right directions.

What is your favorite play to run?

My favorite play to run is 31 dive were I just get to carry people as I rumble my way all the way down the field.
