What coach said: “Caden is one of the most selfless football players to come through the Garnet Valley Football program. He leads by example with everything he does on the field and off the field. Last year at Tight End he played a significant role in both the passing game and running game. We look forward to his leadership this coming season as a senior.”
MEET CADEN
Why do you play football?
I love that it’s a team sport. You can get a lot out of it. You’re always out there with your boys. I love the team aspect of it?
What was last year’s season like?
It was a great experience. We fell short of what we wanted to accomplish. So hopefully this year we can achieve our goals. But last year was awesome. I had a lot of bonds and created a lot of friendships with the sophomores that came in.
What are your goals for this year?
We want to be physical, tough, strong, and great people on and off the field. We’re not just football players. We want to be sure that we have a great impact on our community.
What do you look forward to the most on gameday?
Right when you step on that turf. We do our walkup from the locker room so walking up is a great atmosphere. The fans are going and the kids are high fiving you. It’s awesome. Also, the postgame dinner. It’s pretty nice to sit down with the boys.
What is your favorite play?
There was a play against the Haverford School when it was down to the last two minutes and our running back ran out to the right and scored. That was probably the best moment of the season. When we scored that touchdown everyone got in the huddle and it was just energetic and it was awesome.
What stadium would you like to visit for a game or play in?
Beaver Stadium at Penn State
Favorite pro team in any sport?
The Eagles. Go Birds.
Favorite game you’ve ever watched?
Bills vs. Eagles this year.
Who is your mentor?
Coach (Eric) Van Wyk our head coach. Along with Coach (Craig) Stephenson and Coach (Brian) Perlsweig. Those are my two position coaches and they’ve done a lot for me and taken me a long way.
Favorite sport other than football?
Basketball
Favorite thing to do outside of sports?
Hang out with my friends and have some down time.
Favorite movie?
The Silence of the Lambs but it changes by week.
Favorite vacation destination?
Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
First Football Game you Watched
It may not have been the first but the most memorable was the Miracle at the New Meadowlands when the Eagles beat the Giants.
Wawa or Sheetz?
Wawa but it is tough because when we go to Penn State I start to lean Sheetz.
