Coach says: “Anthony was an extremely reliable running back for us last year. He is a physical downhill runner who craves contact and will not be taken down by one defender. He has had a fantastic offseason putting on solid muscle and gaining speed. We have high expectations for him both as a player and leader in 2025.”
LET’S GET TO KNOW ANTHONY:
Why do you play football?
I play football for the love of the game. Along with that, I think it teaches you lessons that will set you up for life. It’s shapes and builds your character and friendships through all the hardship you face with one another.
What was the 2024 season like for you?
At the beginning of the season I had an ankle injury so that set me back slightly, but I was able to work through it and get better. It was a great year for me to grow as a player and improve for this upcoming season.
What are your goals for 2025?
I want to be the best that I can be. I want to build friendships with teammates while also bettering one another. I want to build a better version of myself with relentless effort and nonstop pursuit to leave it all on the field.
What do you think is the best aspect of your game?
My hunger for contact would be my strongest aspect. I don’t care who it is or how big they are I always want to hit.
How have you approached this offseason differently than previous offseasons?
This is my last year within the Garnet Valley football program. Every year I have prepared for the season, this year even more. I work out multiple times a day, I have been building my cardio and getting my body in the best physical condition it can be.
What does leadership mean to you?
It means being able to be a role model for others. Being someone to rely on, someone to go to for help, and to lead by example.
What is the best part about playing for Garnet Valley High School?
There are countless reasons on why it is such a privilege to play for Garnet Valley football. Some of the best parts are the traditions and the way everything is organized. The competition within our team that holds around 100 players, not many teams have that. The tradition runs deep in Garnet Valley Football with the amount of alumni that come back to coach and all of coaches that have great experience sets us apart from other programs.
What is your favorite football memory, playing or watching?
My favorite memory was playing at BYC, I was at TE and Coach Panarello wanted to switch me to RB one game. I ran for a 50 yard touchdown on the first play and that’s when I realized the position I want to play.
Who was the best player you have ever played against?
Nick Romano from Springfield.
Who has had the most impact on you as a player and person?
My dad has had the most impact on me in both aspects. He introduced me to football at a young age and I thank him for that. He has guided me, motivated and supported me through everything in my life. Another person that has made a great impact is Coach Panarello. He is a great person to have a conversation with and someone that I could go to for anything.
Who is your biggest fan?
My dad is my biggest fan. He has been working with me to get better and is the most supportive person. At every game I’m always able to spot him away from the crowd watching the game.
What are your hobbies outside of football?
My favorite hobby would be competing with powerlifting I spend numerous hours at the gym.
What is your favorite and least favorite practice drill to run?
Half-line is always the best drill in my opinion. I don’t have a problem with any of the drills we do.
What is your favorite pregame song?
Bulletproof by La Roux.
What is your favorite vacation spot?
My family and I have been going to Wildwood Crest, New Jersey my whole life that’s been my favorite place to make memories.
What is your favorite pregame meal?
