Upper Moreland punter/kicker Luke Sword recently committed to Temple. We caught up with he and his head coach to talk about Luke and his decision:
Coach says: “Tremendous punter and kicker. Extremely intelligent”
Why do you play football?
I have a huge passion for punting and truly love being teammates with my best friends
PFN: Why did you choose to commit to Temple before your Sr season?
Because of how I was treated and how I felt I fit in with the coaching staff and players
PFN: Who was your biggest influence there. , who recruited you?
The coaching staff, mainly Coach Ginn.
PFN: What are they getting in player like you?
They are getting a very dedicated player who really buys into what the coaches are preaching.
PFN: What was the recruiting process like for you?
It was very stressful, going to many different college camps and a lot of traveling with visits.
PFN: Do you know what you’d like to study?
Kinesiology
PFN: What role did your parents play in your decision?
They played a big part in the overall recruiting process with how much they supported me. But the decision was completely mine and they made sure I picked where I wanted to go and not where they wanted.
PFN: What do you think is the most exciting thing about the program?
The new coaching staff, I truly believe Coach Keeler is going to turn the program around
PFN: What are you most looking forward to while playing for them?
Making great connections with the coaches and players, and also playing in Lincoln Financial field
PFN: Tell everyone out there in the football world something they’d never know about you until you told them:
I sneeze when I get into the sunlight
PFN: Who is the person who most influenced you in your football career?
My parents, sister and girlfriend, they supported me my entire life in everything I did.
What would you do to improve the recruiting process?
Better communication from coaches on who is a serious contender for a spot
PFN: What is it you’d like all your high school teammates and fans to know about your decision that you might have a hard time saying in person?
I love all of my teammates and coaches for all they have done for me
Who is your favorite sports star and WHY?
Pat Mcafee because of how he has popularized special teams
What are your goals for this coming season?
Win the SOL

It helps bring the whole community together to support their team
what is your favorite pregame ritual?
Listening to the Beatles before kickoff
