Coach says: Tice has been a team captain since he was a Sophomore with overwhelming votes and respect from teammates. Tice is a highly intelligent, hard working young man with a blue collar attitude. He works hard at being someone the team respects and is someone we always look to when running the football. He has played left offensive tackle for the last 3 years (since he was a freshman) and has had 2 years of 2nd Team All Conference honors. We expect Tice to continue his leadership and success on the field and are confident as a staff that he will be someone we rely on to be a positive presence in the huddle. With his last year under the lights coming up, it will be exciting to see his growth and impact as a player, leader and role model on our football team.
What made you want to start playing football?
My whole family played football. My Dad and Older Brother played football so that always made me want to be like them.
Do you model your game after any specific players?
My Dad played the same position that I do in high school so I’ve watched some of his film and just try to be as aggressive as possible.
What is your end goal in your football career?
My goal is a state championship, that would be the dream.
What are your pre and post game traditions?
Postgame tradition is normally I go get a chicken sandwich from Wawa. I don’t really have any pregame traditions, normally show up super early and just wait in the locker room and listen to music with the guys.
Who has had the greatest influence on your football career?
I’ve given this answer a few times but it would have to be my Dad. He’s always been there for me and been great at sitting back and letting me do my thing or giving me tips. He always writes me a note every Friday to give me a little something to chew on and somehow it always ends up in my pregame speech.
How do you prepare yourself for game day outside of practice?
Watching a lot of film. Film is something that I have come to realize is very helpful. I always like to imagine myself in their shoes and go through the plays.
Have you learned anything about life through football?
You get rewarded for putting in the work. When it comes to football, when you put in the work you get rewarded and I think that is how life is.
What interests do you have other than football?
I love anything with an engine, I like tinkering with those things. I also love fishing, hunting, disc golf, and hanging out with friends.
What is your favorite escape from everyday life?
I live in the woods, so everyday I take an ice bath and that’s normally my favorite escape. Just listening to music and being in the peacefulness of nature.
How have your coaches guided you through your high school journey?
They have taught me a lot, not just about football but how to be a better man and how to be a better person in general. Starting with my freshman year to now, they know you better than you know yourself sometimes.
How do you try to gain an advantage over other players?
The default answer is offseason lifting and Upper Perk has done a great job of that these last few years. Sometimes for me it’s mindgames, so just little things like how I lineup, how I put my hand down, and how I run up to the ball.
What goals do you have for yourself and your team this season?
Last year we went 6’4 and it felt like we didn’t know how to win, it was a shock to everyone that we had a winning season. So this year just not being surprised about winning but expecting winning. I also want to go deep in the playoffs and make some noise. I want to be first team offense and defense, there is not much more I can ask for.
Do you have a favorite team or player to compete against?
My favorite team that we have played against is Fleetwood because they always come in expecting to kick our butts and I’ve never lost to them yet, so that’s always a good one.
What shows, movies, or books do you enjoy the most?
I love history so I love World War II stuff, that always captures my mind. Navy Seals training is also super interesting to me and I can apply that to my mindsets in football.
What kind of connection do you have with your teammates?
It’s a brotherhood, it’s indescribable, I’ve bonded with the guys I’ve been playing football with for what seems like forever now. You trust them just as much as yourself, it’s more than a friendship.
What is your go to choice of snack and drink at the gas station?
I’ll get a muscle milk, I try to keep it somewhat healthy on the drink. My snack, I love a bag of Voodoo chips, not many people know about them but they’re normally my go to.
