Coach Says: Daniel Budo is a rising sophomore offensive lineman who started all 10 games as a freshman at left tackle and continued to prove he belonged. He held his own against varsity competition early in his career and has carried that momentum into the offseason. Daniel has been a force in the weight room, showing the strength, toughness, and work ethic needed to become a key piece up front for Abington. His development and physical growth make him an exciting young player to watch in the 2029 class.
Why do you play football?
I love the raw aggression of the trenches. There is no better feeling than imposing your will on another man for four quarters and physically dominating the line of scrimmage. I am also the oldest sibling in my family so I always have the instinct to protect my family which are my teammates.
It’s gameday! What are you looking forward to the most?
The very first play. Setting the tone early, hitting someone hard right off the snap, and making them realize it’s going to be a long night.
Who is your favorite sports star and WHY?
Trent Williams. He plays with an unmatched level of violence and athleticism, and he completely deletes defensive ends from the game.
Do you have a favorite play you remember the most? Explain:
Lining up against one of CB Wests dlineman and driving him 20 yards down field.
What was last years season like for you?
It was a major learning experience. Stepping up to play varsity as a freshman was a battle, but it proved I belong on this stage.
What are your goals for this coming season?
To be the most dominant, physical offensive lineman in the league and completely lock down my side of the ball, allow no sacks and get 1st SOL.
Who is the best player you ever lined up against?
A defensive end from North Penn was one of the best players I ever lined up against because of his speed, strength and great bend which forced me to have to adjust often to block him successfully.
When the game is on the line, which college/professional coach would you like to call in the play?
Dan Campbell. He has a gritty, aggressive mindset and you know he’s going to trust the guys up front to win the game in the tr
What stadium, HS/college/pro would you love to visit for a game?
Beaver Stadium at Penn State for a White Out. The atmosphere and energy look completely unmatched.
What is your favorite Pro team, any sport?
Philadelphia Eagles
What game, yours, college or pro, was your favorite game you watched and why?
Super Bowl LII. Watching the Eagles win it all with an aggressive game plan and dominant trench play was unforgettable.
What sports movie would you watch every day if you had to pick one and why?
Remember the Titans. It shows exactly what it means to buy into a team culture and work through adversity to win.
If your mom and dad are screaming at you from the stands, what is it they usually yell?
“Keep driving your feet!” and “Finish the block!”
Name one thing that you’d love to do in football that may never happen?
Every lineman’s dream, line up at fullback on the goal line, get the handoff, and punch it into the end zone.
Who is your mentor, the person you want to be like? WHY?
I would say a mentor I have is my grandpa because he is very hardworking and always pushes me to be the best person I can be.
Name a sport you’d love to play but can’t:
Rugby. It has that same high-intensity, non-stop physical contact as football.
What is your most embarrassing sports moment?
Tripping over my own teammate’s foot during a pull block in practice and hitting the turf with nobody touching me.
If you could only drive one car for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Cadillac Escalade
When you aren’t playing, practicing or training for sports, what is your go to activity and why?
I love to watch film and always keep expanding my horizon but I also like to play video games.
What is your favorite football memory to date?
Getting my first official varsity start under the lights and realizing all the offseason grinding finally paid off.
What is your favorite play to run?
A play where I can pull around and be able to hit someone.
What scares you the most?
Letting down my teammates or not playing up to my own standards.
Music of choice:
Rap or drill music right before a game to get me ready.
What is the most food you ever ate in one sitting?
I’ve gone to buffets before and eaten 6 plates of food.
What restaurant is your go to when you need a big meal?
My local pizza spot in Philadelphia.
What is your favorite vacation destination?
Mexico resort.
