In a game that is typically reserved for Thanksgiving weekend, the Central League began its COVID-deferred season with a clash of two rivals. With temperatures in the low 70s, the weather felt very much like the traditional opening weekend of football, though this year in late-October.
Upper Darby’s young sophomore quarterback struggled early and Haverford took advantage with four interceptions on floating passes in the first half, two by George Moscony, one by Casey Gilroy, and another by James Wright.
Wright starred for the Fords on offense as well, highlighted by three rushing touchdowns en route to Haverford’s 40 – 0 victory.
The scoring started early and often for the Fords as they put up 33 points in the first half and triggered the running clock early in the second half. Both the offensive and defensive lines dominated for Haverford, getting lots of pressure on the Royal’s quarterback and opening huge holes for running back Wright.
