The condiions today at Pennsbury weren’t exactly ideal for either team but as they say “it’s football weather”. A steady, annoying rain and gusting winds kept both the Titans and Falcons grounded all day but it was CB South that grounded out a 12-7 win.
The team that capitalized on mistakes or turnovers could have had the advantage. As it turns out, it was actually field position that played a key role along with mistakes. Pennsbury punter Chris Karamis kept the Titans pinned deep with booming punts all day long, However, he never got a chance on the first Pennsbury possession. Lined up to punt, the ball sailed over Karamis head and was recovered on the Falcon 20. Owen Pinkerton ran for a first down to the 1 and Gavin Graham plunged in to give the Titans a 6-0. The extra point attempt failed.

There really isn’t much left to talk about for the first half. Five punts, two series ended with failed fourth down attempts and an interception ended the half. Coming out in the second half the Titans reeled off a quick 6 play scoring drive highlighted by a 25 yard run by Braylen Cape, a 17 yard run by Pinkerton then a 24 yard td run from Cape to make it a 12-0 lead for the Titans.

The next Pennsbury possession almost led to another South score after a fumble gave the ball back to the Titans. With the ball on the Falcon 26, the Titans failed to score when Pinkerton fumbled after a 10 yard run to the one yard line. Pennsbury ran three plays and punted to the 30. This series by South could have sealed the game. Pinkerton hit Dan McCusker over the middle and it appeared he was down at the goal line. When he hit the ground the ball popped loose and Antonio Pehlam grabbed the ball and ran 101 yards for a score. The extra point cut the lead to 12-7 with 7:24 left to play.

South was able to run out the clock and preserve the win. “Hey listen, when you play in our conference its a dogfight. You have to play lights out every week” said South head coach Tom Hetrick. “These guys are tough as nails, their defense is very very sound and they don’t give up many points. Our defense did an unbelievable job”.
Pennsbury will look to rebound with North Penn and CB South will face CB West next week.
