Kickoff: 7pm

800 Loch Alsh Ave, Fort Washington, PA 19034

The Details:

1st seed

Upper Dublin Cardinals

Head Coach: Bret Stover

League: Suburban One League-Continental Conference (5A)

This Season: (12-0) overall (6-0) Conference

Last Week: Beat Great Valley 35-0

Cardinals Notables: Upper Dublin enters the game undefeated at 12-0. The Flying Cards are the brackets #1 seed along with being PFN’s #1 ranked team in the statewide rankings. The Cards boast an impressive offense which averages 35.5 points per game while their defense is yielding an average of 7.75 points per. During the first two rounds the Cards are outscoring their opponents 70-0. They cruised to a 35-0 win over (16) Academy Park in round one and then followed it up with a 35-0 thumping over (8) Great Valley last week. Defensive coordinator Dave Sowers looks to keep the goose egg going as his defensive Starters really haven’t yielded anything of significance since they beat 6A North Penn back on September 9th 32-28. They have an uphill battle this week facing a team who averages 39 points per game. Offensively the balanced attack revolves around the arm of Senior Colin O’Sullivan who currently holds offers from Boston College and Cornell. Colin has completed 68% of his passes for 2,442 yards & 32 touchdowns & only 2 INTs. The running game features senior running back Nyfise McIntyre who has compiled 1,327 yards on the ground & 14 scores of his own. The receiving corps is a nightmare for opposing secondaries as they have compiled over 1,750 yards & 20 TDS between seniors Griffin Pensabene (636-7), DJ Ceresier (485-6), Starling Reaves (311-3), & junior Kris Kohlbrenner (306-4).  On the Defensive side of the ball, look for the monster in the middle, senior DT Kyree Butler who is the closest thing to an immovable object that I’ve seen at the high school level. Kyree has 72 total tackles & 2 sacks. Senior Riley Hackett leads the team with 6 sacks to go along with 59 total tackles. Junior Shyne Roberts is second on the team in total tackles with 62 and sacks with 5.

4th seed

Plymouth Whitemarsh Colonials

Head Coach: Dan Chang

League: Suburban One League-American Conference (5A)

This Season: (10-2) overall (5-0) Conference

Last Week: Beat Chester 30-12

Colonials Notables: Another exciting team to watch this season who boasts an offense that is averaging 39 points per game. The Colonials have an impressive 10-2 record and are the 4th seed in the district. PFN’s panel has them ranked 8th overall in the statewide 5A rankings.  The Colonial’s defense has yielded an impressive 10.0 points per contest.  Their offensive attack is centered around senior dual-threat QB Aiden O’Brien who has passed for 788 yards & 12 TDs to go along with 1,012 yards on the ground & another 12 TDs.  Junior running back Luke Winterbottom and senior Tommy Hannon are a 1-2 combo punch that most defenses can’t withstand. Luke has rushed for 981 yards & 13 TDs. Tommy has rushed for 562 yards & 12 TDs. Defensively look for strong performances from the likes of DE Joe Foy (8 TFL, 5 sacks), DE Jared Kolsun (5 TFL, 5 Sacks), & LB Tommy Hannon (13 TFL, 3 sacks, 1 INT). Seven of their games resulted in less than 7 points scored.  Upper Moreland was the only team to put up more than 3 scores against them. The first two rounds of the playoffs yielded 71 points for the Colonials while only giving up 12 to Chester last week. Game one was highlighted by senior QB Aiden O’Brien’s 182 yard rushing performance. Game two saw Tommy Hannon take the spotlight with 122 yards & 3 Tuddys.

Game Notables: We have the top two offenses versus the top two defenses and to top it off, this is a rematch of last years district quarterfinal matchup where Plymouth Whitemarsh battled to a victory over the Cardinals 42-36 in an overtime thriller which most in the area would have called it the game of the year.  Look for this game to be that and much more this season as the winner will play against either (2) Strath Haven or (3) WC Rustin for the district Championship.
