The Game:

North Penn Knights @ Central Bucks South Titans

Friday, September 30, 2022

Kickoff: 7pm @ Titan Stadium

1100 Folly Road, Warrington, PA 18976

The Details:

North Penn Knights

Head Coach: Dick Beck (20th Season)

Last Season: (11-1) overall (8-0) Conference

League: Suburban One-National Conference (6A)

This Season: (2-3) overall (1-1) Conference

Last Week: Lost to CB West 35-14

Knights Notables: The Knights are clearly not the team they were last season that went 11-1 with their only loss coming in the district 1 quarter finals of the state playoffs. This season has been up and down to say the least. The Knights have wins against Quakertown (49-7) & Neshaminy (35-28) but lost to LaSalle (28-37), Upper Dublin (28-32), & CB West (35-14). Their offense is capable of producing as its averaging 30.8 points per game. Senior QB No. 18 Ryan Zeltt who holds an FCS offer from Lehigh University leads the attack with 1,179 yards passing & 7 TDs to only 1 INT. That’s a 69% (68.5) completion rate. Look for the Knights to air it out again this week. I caught up with Ryan earlier this week and asked him what his team needed to do to be victorious against CB South and he responded, “I think having a really good week of practice, really coming together as a team, & our defense making some big-time stops could really help us win.”

Central Bucks South Titans

Head Coach: Tom Hetrick (9th Season)

Last Season: (6-5) overall (3-5) Conference

League: Suburban One-National Conference (6A)

This Season: (3-2) overall (0-2) Conference

Last Week: Lost to Pennsbury 28-6

Titans Notables: The Titans head into this battle having dropped their last two contests after starting the season 3-0. They have wins over Plymouth Whitemarsh (21-6), Harry S. Truman (35-8), & Council Rock North (56-7). Their two losses are to undefeated Central Bucks East (7-21) & a shockingly dominant Pennsbury squad (6-28). The Titans are paced by Senior QB No. 1 Brett Szarko, who has completed 66% of his passes (51-77) for 727 yards, 9 TDs & 5 INTs. Brett’s favorite target is Senior WR No. 15 Tom Donnelly who has hauled in 21 balls for 320 yards & 3 TDs.  Junior running back No. 23 Corey Moore is averaging 5.3 yards per carry with a TD. On the season he has 34 carries for 180 yards. Look for the Titan attack to come from the sky. Junior LB No. 48 Sean Moskowitz leads a stout defense with 54 total tackles, 7 tackles for loss, 1 sack, & 4 fumble recoveries. I spoke with Brett Szarko earlier this week about North Penn and what they needed to do to be successful against them and he said, “We just need to be able to score the ball efficiently.”

Mayhem’s Prediction: Honestly for me, it’s hard to predict this game because I’ve only seen one of these teams in person but even that was a scrimmage. I’m shocked at North Penn’s record halfway through the season, but I don’t see it necessarily indicative of a bad team just a really strong out of conference schedule. Both teams can throw but whoever’s running game is better will be the difference maker. I think that’s where the Knights have the advantage. The Knights and Titans Battle hard but North Penn Prevails 28-14
