The Game:
Pennridge Rams @ Central Bucks West Bucks
Friday, October 14, 2022
Kickoff: 7pm @ War Memorial Field
375 W Court St, Doylestown, PA 18901
The Details:
Pennridge Rams
Head Coach: Chuck Burgy (1st Season)
Last Season: (8-5) overall (6-2) Conference
League: Suburban One-National Conference(6A)
This Season: (2-5) overall (1-3) Conference
Last Week: Lost to Pennsbury 27-24
Rams Notables: The Rams have wins against Bensalem (35-0), & Abington (34-0). Their losses are to Downingtown East (30-6), Souderton (24-21), CB East (16-13 2OT), Neshaminy (7-6), & Pennsbury (27-24). If you look closely though, they lost their last 3 games by a combine 7 POINTS! The Ram’s defense has been stout this season and has hung with some of the best in the Suburban One League. They are currently yielding only 15.6 points per contest. They are more than capable of containing the Bucks potent rushing assault. The Ram’s offense revolves around their rushing attack, and it is spearheaded by Army Commit Brennan Fisher who has rushed for 1,003 yards on 139 carries (7.2 ypc) & 10 TDs through 7 games. I talked with Brennan about his team and their close losses. He responded, “It definitely hurts the team to keep losing the way we have but the greatest part is we know we are right there. We have proven we are able to hang with any team in this league.” What does he believe is key to being victorious this week? “This week at practice we have to keep our heads up and continue to put in the work we have been. We have to play one of the most physical games of the year for sure. There a very competitive and physical team so we need to match their energy all across the board. I think if we play the way we have and clean up the little things that have hurt us we will come out on top.”
CB West Bucks
Head Coach: Robert Rowan (4th Season)
Last Season: (9-3) overall (6-1)) Conference
League: Suburban One-National Conference (6A)
This Season: (4-3) overall (3-1) Conference
Last Week: Beat Neshaminy 22-0
Bucks Notables: The Bucks have wins against Quakertown (56-14), North Penn (35-14), Abington (27-0), & Neshaminy (22-0). Their losses have come against undefeated Garnet Valley (14-7), Undefeated Upper Dublin (35-7), & 6-1 Pennsbury (26-21). The Bucks are currently on a 3-game winning streak and look to carry that momentum over into their Friday night matchup against the Rams. They have outscored their opponents 84-14 in that span and their last two games were shutouts. The Buck’s rushing attack is led by senior running back Eli Boehm who rushed for 223 yards on 37 carries & 3 TDs vs North Penn, then 181 yards on 26 carries & 2 TDs against Abington, & finally a 21 carry 96-yard performance in his teams 22-0 win over Neshaminy this past week. That’s 500 yards on 84 carries for those following along at home. Good for almost 6 yards per carry. 5.9 to be exact. I caught up with Eli this week and had to ask him what he thought of his opponents 2-5 record heading into this game? He responded, “Their record means absolutely nothing to us, we know this is a big game every year and we are expecting a dog fight.” I then asked What they had to do to be victorious and he said, “To win this game we just have to continue to do our assignments every play. Break the game down play by play and make sure we win more plays than them.”
Mayhem’s Prediction: Despite records, these two teams are evenly matched, and it could go either way. Look for a ground and pound attack from both sides with a mix of downfield shots. I could see this battle turning into a defensive slugfest which is where I think the Rams hold the edge. Offensively through the air, look for Ganz Cooper of West to sling it if necessary and I’ll be keeping my eye on Pennridge Freshman surprise Noah Keating who has been tossing some solid ball the last two weeks. I’m rolling with the upset, as the Rams emotionally charge into War Memorial field & prevail 14-13.
