Buck’s Notables:  The Bucks are the #1 seed in the district & finished the regular season undefeated. They finished first in their Conference & captured a SOL-National Title. They have impressive wins against #8 Garnet Valley(17-13) & #5 CB South (40-29). On offense, the Bucks are averaging 31.0 points per game. Defensively they are yielding 10.2 points per. Junior Ryan Clemens leads the Bucks’ backfield with 1,122 yards & 9 TDs. Senior QB Cooper Taylor has completed 50% of his passes for 500 yards & 6 TDs. He is second on the team in rushing with 1,016 yards & 11 TDs. On the Defensive side of the ball, Aedan Donnelly leads the Bucks in total Tackles with 57. AJ Gerace is second on the team with 48. Senior Jack Williams leads the team in sacks with 4.5 & Gerace is second with 3.0.  In Round 1 the Bucks beat #16 seed Cheltenham 27-12, however they took a huge blow when senior leader and X-factor Conor McFadden tore his ACL on the opening kickoff. The offense came out flat and went into the half with the score knotted at 0. “Coming out flat, it wasn’t because we didn’t prepare or know the type of team we were playing,” Rowan said. “We have to play our two rivalry games back-to-back in the last two weeks of the season. Those games are emotionally charged games. The energy was different in the stadium tonight, and it all contributed to a really slow start for us.” The third quarter proved to be the boost they needed as they hauled off 24 points to take the lead. Senior running back Ryan Clemens rushed 22 times for 97 yards & 1 TD. He also kicked 2 field goals in the victory.

 

Garnet Valley Jaguars

Last Week: Won, 28-21 over Owen J. Roberts

Jaguar’s Notables:  The two-time defending District 1 6A champions are back looking to three-peat as District Champions, and enter the playoffs as the 8th seed with an 9-2 record. Offensively Coach Eric Van Wyk’s offense is led by Quarterback Tyler Lassik who after missing four games and part of a  fifth game is healthy and has the Jaguars’ offense is rolling at the right time. Lassik is joined in the backfield by Ronnie Leraris, and Luke Vaughn. Kai Lopez is the team’s leading receiver with 414 yards and Dante DeVuono leads the receivers with four touchdowns. Defensively Nick Romaniello leads the team with 75 tackles, followed closely by Nolan Carroll (70) and Chase Britton (64). Lassik leads the team in takeaways with two interceptions and three fumble recoveries. In round 1 the Jags beat #9 seed Owen J. Roberts 28-21.  Tyler Lassik completed 7 of 8 passes for 148 yards & 2 scores. He also had a rushing touchdown in the effort. After the game Tyler said, “We take pride in the run and when you take pride in the run teams begin to know that and if they want to send that many guys to our game we’re going to take advantage of that with our pass game.”
