The Game:

Central Bucks West Bucks @ #2 Upper Dublin Cardinals

Friday, September 2, 2022

Kickoff: 7pm

800 Loch Alsh Ave, Fort Washington, PA 19034

The Details:

Central Bucks West Bucks

Head Coach: Robert Rowan

Last Season: (9-3) overall (6-1) Conference

League: Suburban One-National Conference (6A)

This Season: (0-1) overall (0-0) Conference

Last Week: 7-14 loss to Garnet Valley

Bucks Notables:  Last week the Bucks went toe to toe with Central League power Garnet Valley who finished 14-1 a year ago & whose only loss came in the PIAA (6A) state semifinal. In what was a nailbiter for sure, the Bucks just couldn’t get it done. After leading 7-0 most of the game. The Jaguars clawed back to make it 7-6. With only 6 minutes to go the Jags marched down the field for a score and made it 14-7 after a successful two-point conversion.  In the final 16 seconds of the game the Bucks made it all the way to the GV 15-yard line. As time expired the Bucks last second pass was intercepted near the endzone, and the game was over.  When asked about what the Bucks need to do to be victorious this week, Senior RB Vinny Cherubini said, “I think we need to play with the same physicality we did last week on defense and step up the execution on offense.”

Upper Dublin Cardinals

Head Coach: Bret Stover

Last Season: (9-3) overall (6-1) Conference

League: Suburban One-Continental Conference (5A)

This Season: (1-0) overall (0-0) Conference

Last Week: 37-13 Win against Kennett

Cardinals Notables: The Cardinals are PFN’s No. 2 ranked team in (5A) and look to continue where they left off Friday night when they took it to non-conference opponent Kennett 37-13.  UD had a combine 490 yards of offense. SR QB Colin O’Sullivan went 16/26 283 yards & 3 passing TDs & his favorite target Griffin Pensabene caught 8 balls for 152 yards & 2 scores.   The Cardinals defense led by Defensive linemen Kyree Butler & Riley Hackett kept constant pressure all game and only let up 146 Total yards.  When asked about what his team needs to do to be victorious, Senior QB Colin O’Sullivan said, “CB West is a very well-coached, physical football team. They’re consistently good for a reason. I think for us to be successful we need to limit the amount of mental mistakes and just continue to improve. Week 1 to Week 2 is always a big week for improvement and I’m excited to see what we can do this Friday night.”

Mayhem’s Prediction: After CB West hung with GV the way they did I suspect this week’s game is going to be a lot closer than I initially imagined. While the Bucks are the larger school, I could see it being a back-and-forth affair that produces some points. The Cardinals prevail in the end. Upper Dublin 28 CB West 20
