With 10 Division 1 Offers, Schalachter chooses the Wildcats.

Michael Schlachter committed to continue his athletic career at Villanova University on Wednesday evening. The 6’4 standout 2027 tight end of Downingtown East High School made his commitment the day after announcing Villanova’s offer, having racked up 10 Division 1 offers from schools such as Penn, Georgetown, East Carolina, and Columbia.

Schalachter finished his junior year season at East with 21 receptions, 227 yards, and 2 touchdowns. The team itself finished their season with an 8-4 record, falling short in the quarter finals of the District 1 6A playoffs.

The rising East senior has also garnered a number of accolades in his career, making the All ChesMont and All County lists, as well as being a member of the Honor Roll. On the field, he is widely seen as a versatile and relentless offensive player, which stems from the immense praise that East receives for the abilities of their tight ends throughout the years.

Schalachter will make unpack his bags at Villanova in the fall of 2027, and East is hopeful to have a strong final run with their faithful tight end.
