PFN’s Willie is Cookin’ In Philly Week of October 2, 2025

Well, the Calendar has turned to one of this writer’s favorite months, October. The leaves are starting to turn, the weather is getting cooler, and games are being played mostly under the stars. Football is really starting to heat up. My apologies for the delay in this week’s posting. It was a hectic weekend last weekend, with lots of hours spent cooking, which left me feeling fatigued and needing to catch up on my rest. However, better late than never. Last week seemed to be the week of milestones in Philadelphia. Now, let’s dive right into, and you can see just exactly what I am talking about.

DeLuca Becomes Lower Merion All-Time Leader in Passing: With 296 yards against Haverford last Friday, Lower Merion’s Nick DeLuca became the school’s All all-time leader in Yards passing for a Career with 3674 yards in his career.

Taylor Breaks Own Record for Haverford: Last season, against Lower Merion, Haverford RB Liam Taylor broke the school’s single-game record for yards with 337 yards. On Friday night, the Fords hosted Lower Merion, and once again Taylor broke the record, this time rushing for 362 yards on 29 carries.

All in the Family: One certainly could make the argument that the first family of Coatesville football is the Ortega. Not only is the Patriarch Matt the legendary Head Coach of the Red Raiders program, but his three sons, Ricky, Tommy, and Matt Jr (“Buggy) all started at Quarterback for the Red Raiders and now have thrown for a combined 250 touchdowns.

Spring-Ford and Imhotep reach milestones: This past both Spring-Ford and Imhotep picked up milestone wins for their program. The Rams’ 35-7 victory over Methacton marked the 400th victory in Spring-Ford history. With a 58-6 victory over George Washington, the Imhotep Panthers reached their 200th victory in program history.

Beals Reaches Milestone: In Roman Catholic’s victory over LaSalle, QB Semaj Beals went over the 10,000 career passing yards mark. The Akron commit currently has thrown for 10,046 yards on 710 completions and has recorded a total of 109 career touchdowns.
