Ridley celebrates Thanksgiving with an offensive feast
The Ridley Raiders took down the Interboro Bucs 32-0 on Thanksgiving Day in the annual Turkey Bowl between the Raiders and the Bucs. The Raiders had everything working for them, posting 32 points while allowing zero in a defensive masterpiece.
Here were my thoughts prior to the game.
Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving.

Mason Marshall Speights took over at the QB position for the Bucs, instead of his usual role in the backfield. Interboro went three and out on the first drive and punted it away to the Raiders.
The Raiders took the field on their first drive and started to make their way down into Bucs territory, with huge first-down rushes from QB Jackson Solomon and RB Kirkland Plummer. Solomon took the snap and was pressured immediately. He escaped the pocket and fired to a wide-open Johnny Palladino for a Ridley score. The Raiders’ point after was good, and they led 7-0 with 4:42 remaining in the first quarter.

The Bucs got the ball back and turned it right back over to the Raiders, who now had the ball on the Bucs’ side of the field, already up 7-0.
Ridley did not have a long way to go, allowing them to drive the ball inside the 10 just as the quarter expired. The Raiders then made two huge mistakes, a dead-ball foul and a live-ball foul, pushing them back 25 yards and making it 1st and goal from the 28. Although Ridley did not get it in the endzone on first and forever, they did put points on the board with a 35-yard Field Goal from Tim Calamita, putting the Raiders up 10-0.

Interboro did not get rolling on their next drive, but instead turned the ball over to the Raiders. Kevin Farley picked off Mason Marshall Speights, putting the Raiders right back on the 10-yard line.
Ridley capitalized on the short field from the INT with a touchdown rush from Kirkland Plummer. The Raiders XP was good, and they led 17-0.

Neither team could get anything rolling on their next two drives, and they would both punt it away. Ridley’s punt was downed at the 1, putting the Bucs in real trouble, already down 17-0.

The Bucs lined up with three men in the backfield, hoping to rush themselves out of their own endzone. Ridley’s line broke through and got to the Bucs QB/RB Mason Marshall Speights, taking him down for a huge safety, putting the Raiders up 19-0.

The Bucs’ punt after the safety was not great, and the Raiders had phenomenal field position with just under 3 minutes left in the half. Ridley continued with the ground game, bringing them all the way down to the 5-yard line with the clock still running down in the first half. On the very next play, Jackson Solomon took the snap and handed it off once more to Kirkland Plummer, who found open space and ultimately the endzone for another Ridley Raiders touchdown. The Raiders led 26-0 with 1:08 left in the first half.

Interboro did not attempt to drive with a minute left in the half and let the clock run out, taking us to halftime.
Here were my thoughts at the half.

Coming out of the half, Interboro attempted an onside kick, which was successful. The Bucs did not do anything on that drive, and neither would the Raiders on any of their drives in the third quarter. Neither team moved the ball more than 10 yards until the very end of the quarter, when the Raiders drove the ball deep into Bucs territory and landed them on the 1-yard line going into the fourth quarter.
The Raiders capped off a very long drive with a score. Mir Hatchett punched it home from the 1-yard line and put the Raiders up 32-0.

The Raiders and Bucs would trade offensive possessions, but neither team would have a real chance to score until the final drive of the game for the Interboro Bucs. Interboro ran the length of the field and used all three of their timeouts, taking them down inside the 10 for their final play of the game. The Ridley defense held strong on the final play to shut out the Bucs and repeat as Turkey bowl champions once again.
Ridley will keep the Phil Marion Memorial trophy on Morton Ave for the fifth consecutive year. Here were my thoughts after a 32-0 victory in favor of the Raiders.

Following the conclusion of the game, I got to talk with Kirkland Plummer. Plummer was huge in Ridley’s victory over Interboro, scoring two touchdowns and dominating the run game for Ridley.
