When Ryan Touhey lined up for a 41 yard field goal attempt with just under 6 seconds to play Spring-Ford called a time out. After the time out, the Wildcats sent their offense back onto the field with quarterback Corey Schock behind center. One quick snap, a six yard run and a fast time out by OJR and Touhey went back onto the field and kicked the game winner as the clock ran out. “This is awesome, the best moment of my life” said a very jubiliant Touhey of his game winning kick. . OJR took home a hard fought 27-25 win on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. “I couldn’t hear anything, I kept my head down, swung through and trusted my teammates. That six yards was massive. It gave me a lot more confidence with a shorter kick”.

Hard fought it was. The Wildcats jumped out to an early 7-0 lead  on their first offensive drive of the game when Schock found Penn State recruit Matthew Gregory for a 42 yard td pass with 7:02 left in the first quarter.

On the first play of the ensuing series the Rams fumbled the ball away and  Gregory recovered the ball for OJR on the Rams 28. They settled for a 25 yard field goal by Touhey to take a 10-0 lead.  He’s really poised, he doesn’t get rattled and he’s a really tough offensive leader on the field and we needed that today” said OJR head coach Rich Kolka of the play of his quarterback.

Spring-Ford came right back, driving 74 yards for their first score of the game, a double reverse pass from Trent Yoder to Ryan Kerchner but they missed the extra point keeping the score 10-6. That would be the theme of the day for the Rams and likely their undoing as they missed on three extra point tries.

OJR had one more chance to score in the first half but a bad snap on a field goal try sailed over the head of the holder and the Rams ran out the clock.

The second half was an excitement filled half of football. OJR took the kick off and drove 80 yards for another score, a 7 yard pass from Schock to Dylan Drumheller making it a 17-6 game. The drive was aided by another connection between this duo, a 46 yard pass on the first play of the drive. Yoder also had a 25 yard run.

Again the Wildcats responded. Again they drove 80 yards. Another big catch by Drumheller put the ball on the Rams 33 then another for 20 yards to the one where Schock plunged in to give the Wildcats a 24-12 lead with 3:15 left in the third quarter.

It looked like the Rams were about to counter but a fourth down pass by Yoder fell incomplete, however, on the very next play Blake Turner picked off Schock at the 28. One play later it was a 24-28 game with 11:32 left to play. Yoder found Jordan Marsilio for a 28 yard td down the right side.

The Wildcats went on a long, time consuming drive but came up empty at the 10 when Schock was strip sacked and the Rams recovered at their 18. What ensued next was two masterful end of the game drives. The first by Spring-Ford. Yoder hit a 15 yard completion to Marsilio, then Jamal Lewis finally broke loose for a 17 yard gain. The Yoder hit Marsilio for a big gain to the 3 and Lewis finished the drive making it 24 all with 56 second left to play. On the point after the ball sailed wide, but a roughing the kick play game the Rams another shot and they took their first lead of the game, 25-24.

Fifty six seconds for OJR. A quick 15 yard gain, a 9 yard run by Justin Daubert, tick tick tick, a 26 yard pass to Daubert, tick tick tick, and the rest is history.

“We’ve been playing football together for a long time. It doesn’t just happen one game, this is years and years of work together” said Schock of the connection he and Drumheller have. Schock finished the game with 283 passing yards and 2 tds, Drumheller was on the receiving end of 7 passes for 146 yards.

“That was a great high school football game. That’s why the kids play, that’s why the bands here, they got nothing to be ashamed of. They played a great game. Even with star running back Mekhi Graham missing in action due to injury, coach Kolka said ‘our play action game is deadly” .
