SPRINGFIELD: Last season even when the Springfield Cougars where the “home team” they had to pack onto a school bus. The home bus ride was a four mile trip over to fellow Strath Haven ‘s George L. King Field. The reason  the Cougars wouldn’t be able to play on their campus was because there was construction on their new high school. Along with the building came a brand new stadium with turf. On Friday night the Cougars were finally able to play a game in their new home and they christen it and celebrated senior day with a dominating 47-0 victory over Harrion.

Just how dominate were the Cougars, their defense held the Rams to negative 5 rushing yards and only 117total offensive yards.

Things started out slow for the Cougars offense has on their opening drive Matt Krebbs intercepted Jake Rama but the Cougars defense would get their second three and out the game and nine plays later Jayden Baiden powered his way in from six yards out capping a 49 yard drive giving the Cougars the early 7-0

Michael Grapin ended the next Rams driving with his interception of Logan Rothberg and five plays later Baiden extended the Cougars lead with 10 touchdown run making it 13-0. Rothberg a sophomore finished the game completing 10 of his 26 passes for 122 yards with his favorite targets being Krebbs two catches for 36 yards and Sr Seth Fliszer (2-34).

Baiden would extend the home teams lead to 20-0 with his third touchdown this one from a yard out. Rama would connect with Frank Tropiano for 26 yard strike that extended the Cougars lead to 27-0 at halftime. Baiden would finish the game with 105 yards on 10 carries while Rama completed 8 of his 10 passes for 110 yards with his favorite targets being Alex Sciarrino 3 catches for 55 yards including a huge 22 yard reception on a fourth and six on the Cougars first touchdown drive and Tropiano (3-46).

Senior Jack Clark added two touchdowns runs in the second half covering a yard and 14 yards along with a 9 yard touchdown run to cap the scoring.

Next Friday the Cougars will look to remain undefeated on the season when they host the Radnor Raiders. The Rams will look for their first victory of the season when they travel to Wallingford to take on the Strath Haven Panthers .
