Ridley came into the week looking to get a winning streak going and hand Springfield Delco their first loss of the season. Springfield however had other plans. Springfield coming off a close 36-35 win against Penncrest a week ago gave Ridley the needed confidence entering the game.
“I think last week we thought we were a really good team and last week showed us there were other really good teams. So it showed us last week that we had to be more ready then we were last friday” – Brad Barber on last week’s close game
The first quarter came and went, each team scoreless at the end of one. If you judge by the cover you would think this would stay a puntfest. That changed fast in the second with a score a minute and eight seconds into it. Brad Barber found his way into the endzone to get this game going and give Delco the 7-0 lead. Ridley struck right back with their own drive and got their way into the endzone. An eight-play drive spanning over five minutes and twenty-seven seconds, Ridley’s own Connor Kelly put Ridley on the board. A missed field goal kept Ridley down 7-6 on the scoreboard. With a minute and eighteen remaining before the half ended, Springfield had a drive going up until a broken play happened. Ridley’s Tahmiir Moody-Ruffin was in the right place at the right time and made the needed pick to keep Springfield off the field. Ridley didn’t get anything going after, with time running down Ridley barely moved the ball and ended their drive on an eight-yard run. Going into half Ridley was down 7-6 and this game was much closer than most people would’ve thought.

Springfield exploded out a canon in the second half outscoring Ridley 29-0 through the two quarters. Barber found his way into the endzone two more times before the game ended. One time in the third and one time in the fourth. The first opened up the second half’s scoring outburst as he burst to the outside and took it in from thirteen yards out. with 7:20 in the third remaining. Before Barber got his third and final touchdown of the day, Nate Romano had to get his name on the stat sheet as he punched one into the endzone with 3:24 in the third to extend the lead from 15-6 to 22-6. Barber’s third and final touchdown came from seven yards out as he yet again bounced to the outside and took it in to give Springfield their 29-6 lead with 6:32 in the fourth. When the game seemed over, Springfield still found another way of scoring. A fifty-one-yard scoop and score from Brian Delaney put the cap on the game and put Springfield up 36-6 with 4:05 left in the game. Springfield put the final touches on the game as Ridley tried to throw a hail marry prayer but was hit and sacked behind the line.
“I mean all week it was a big game, this is one you mark on the calender, biggest rival we have so this was huge for us. The guys up front did their job and I was able to make plays”- Barber on his three touchdown performence.

Springfield Delco hits the road and heads off to Harriton for their battle against Ram’s next Friday at 7. For Ridley Raiders, they look to bounce back next week as they head back home and take on Upper Darby.
“There’s definitly a level of confidence but theres also still humbleness from last friday against Penncrest, so we got to go hard all practice and be ready for friday night” – Barber on how to continue this undefeated season.
