Now, I don’t know where to start. This game felt like groundhog day, Wissahickon vs Springfield on Homecoming in a tightly contested run-heavy Springfield offensive game coming down to a one-score win. Springfield came into this game with all runs, tart out their first drive every play was a run that started from the nine-the way to Wissahickon’s two. The first score of the game came off a two-yard rushing touchdown by #2 Max Sanchez. Sadly for Springfield though they missed the PAT. Springfield would be up 6-0 with 6:48 in the 1st. Then right off kickoff Springfield went for an onside kick and was to recover at the 40.

Finally, Wissahickon would strike, one play into Springfield’s drive, and they decided to finally pass the ball. Sadly for them lead to an interception by #1 Ryan Wolf. Wissahickon would take over at the 10-yard line with 6:36.

Wissahickon would punt on their first drive. The 1st quarter would wrap up with Springfield moving the ball down the way to the twelve-yard line of Wissahickon. Two plays later Quarterback Dylan McKenzie would take the snap for 4-yards to extend the lead to 12-0. Dylan would also be able to get the 2-point conversion off a catch which pushed the lead up to 14-0 with 11:17 remaining in the half.

Wissahickon’s second turning point in the game would be a huge screen pass. Quarterback Julian Perkins would dump the ball off to runningback Ronnie Weldon who would take the ball all the way to the 11-yard line escaping out and breaking tackles. Not too many plays later, Quarterback Julian Perkins would take a 1-yard sneak for the touchdown with 8:43 remaining. They would try a trick play on the 2-point would ultimately fail. The score would stay 14-6.

Springfield would start their next drive at the 40. Wow did they know how to waste the clock, they kept running the ball down the throats of Wissahickon with every play in the drive being a run. Eleven runs later in the drive, they would get a Quarter-back keep for the touchdown. Dylan McKenzie would be able to strut in the endzone for four yards. They would only take a field goal this time and hit it. Springfield would extend the score from 14-6 to 21-6 with 2:03 left.

On Wissahickon’s next drive, they would get picked off by none other than Dylan McKenzie. He would take it EIGHTY-FOUR YARDS!!! before being taken down with 24.3 in the half. Even though Dylan just took back this huge play, Springfield couldn’t capitalize. They would go four and out and then have the field goal blocked right before the half. Springfield would take the half with the 21-6 lead over Wissahickon.

Wissahickon’s first drive to start the half would end in a punt, but so would Springfields. A few plays into Wissahickon’s second drive, they would strike. Ronnie Weldon would take the handoff for a 41-yard touchdown. They would go for 2 and this time get it. Wissahickon would cut down the lead to 21-14 with 5:42 left in the 3rd.

The third quarter ended out with a lot of runs coming from none other but Springfield but they would start at Wissahickons 13. They would soon be faced with a 4th down and pick up the 1st set at the 6. But two good things can’t happen in a row. They would sadly have been faced with a 4th and 20. Due to weather conditions, they went for it. Wissahickon would have another great defensive stand and #11 Jaden Mclean would break up the pass in the endzone to have Wissahickon set up at their 20-yard line.

After that Wissahickon couldn’t do much. They started to move and then were stopped. With a great trick play on the punt, they would pick up the 1st and much, much more. Yet again two good things can’t happen in a row, on the same drive they punted. Then Springfield went 4 and our and punted right back. Wissahickon had one more chance to go down the field and score, but Dylan McKenzie would prove how great of a player he is. Dylan would make a contested interception leaping over the receiver to grab the ball and go out at the 36. Springfield ran the ball a few more times and then was able to take some knees and win the game 21-14. He thanks his team and line for helping him with his Two touchdowns and two interception game saying that nothing would be possible without them and they come first for him. Even Springfield knew how it would be best to attack Wissahickon, he mentioned how they came into the game with a run-heavy gameplan and just run the ball down the throats of Wissahickon. He mentioned that they came into this week’s game with a much different mentality than they did last Saturday. Lastly, he wants the same mentality and to come out and play the game hard and not be scared going into Cheltenham. Springfield (4-1) takes on Cheltenham next Friday while Wissahickon (0-6) will move onto Upper Moreland.
