Joe Hull, 1974-2016
West Chester Henderson Assistant coach Mark Hull missed the Warriors game with cross-town rival West Chester East last Friday night, but it was for good reason has he was back at his Alma Mater Stroudsburg High where his late younger brother Joe Hull was inducted into the schools Hall of Fame. During his high school career, the younger Hull played for legendary coach Fred Ross where he lettered and was starter all four years. In his junior and senior season, he was all league, won three league titles, and two district 11 appearances. In addition to the football Joe found success on the wrestling mat where he also lettered all four years, was named team captain his senior season where he went 25-3 and was a district and regional qualifier. He also succeed in track and field where he was a three-time letter winner. Sadly, the younger Hull passed away November 22,2016 from health issues.
- The older Hull was joined by his nieces Leah and Madeline (Joe daughters)
- co-captain of the wrestling team with a 25-4 record at heavy weight and winner of the Warren Hills and Quakertown Tournment
The Mark called the night a great honor for his family and added that the only way it could been better would been if his brother was able to be there. Hull’s HoF plaque is placed right next to his coaches plaque.
-When the Penn Wood hosted Virginia’s Massaponax last Friday it marked the first time in school history that Patriots played against an out-of state team. The visiting Panthers walked away from Kerr Field with 26-23 victory. The Patriots will travel to Washington DC on October 19 to play Friendship Collegiate Academy.
-For the first time in school’s history the Harry S. Truman Tigers went into Neshaminy’s Heartbreak Ridge and came away with a victory by a score 55-41. The Tigers under the direction of first year head coach Ben Johnson sit at 2-2 on the season and travel to Council Rock North Friday evening.
-According to fellow PA Football News staff member Mark “Frog” Carfagno in their game on Saturday afternoon both the Southern Rams and Frankford Pioneers finished the game with a combined negative 2 yards. The Rams rushed the ball 22 times for -4 yards and Pioneers 19 times two yards.
-Lansdale Catholic is looking for alumni football players to join them for the Long Green Line where the former players will line the walk from the locker room to the field and then join the team on the field. The event will take place on their October 12 homecoming game when the Crusaders host Bishop McDevitt kickoff is scheduled for 1pm at Wissahickon High School.
