Q&A

What made you choose football?

Growing up, I faced multiple difficulties, difficulties I thought I couldn’t ever get out of, and Dealing with those difficulties I had so much anger built up inside of me football chose me. It showed me a home away from home, something that took my mind off things I fell in love with football. I’m good at the sport. I don’t play it because I love it. I play it for my family, that’s my drive and motivation to keep going.

What’s your favorite football memory?

So far, my favorite football memory is my sophomore year and starting linebacker, us going to state. States is a once in a lifetime thing. Some people don’t get the opportunity to say they played in a state game. But everything about it was just so fun the hotel, the game, after the game, and then getting home and the whole city was applauding us.

What activities do you enjoy outside of playing football?

I enjoy other activities outside of football, playing the game, spending time with my girlfriend, and chilling with the boys.

What non-football accomplishment are you most proud of?

This school year has been the best school year I have ever had, minus the pandemic and other things. Third-quarter I got straight A’s, and now this fourth quarter, I’m on my way to another straight-A report card.

Who is your favorite athlete, and why?

Either Ray Lewis And Eric Berry. Ray Lewis Is my position, and he’s a legend to me. The best to ever play that position I want to be in his place or better one day. On the other hand, Eric Berry is inspirational, he had cancer, but that did not stop him from doing what he loved. He kept going. “Fear Nothing Attack Everything.”

What has been the most difficult part of training during the pandemic, and how did you overcome it?

I don’t always have access to weight to bench and squat and stuff like that, so staying strong is just going to be a harder task to do. Not impossible just harder to overcome if I just worked out still, I didn’t let it stop me from working.

Do you prefer offense or defense?

Defense

Who is your biggest role model?

“Who is my biggest role model? A simple question, but the answer is more complicated because we’re all still evolving every day so that the answer can change in an instant. Someone comes into your life unexpectedly, and suddenly, you see the world through a new lens. That person teaches you it’s ok to let people in, to start over. You can go your whole life thinking you know the answer. Then one day, you realize the greatest role model in your life might be someone else. Sometimes, the answer isn’t who influenced you the most, but what. People come and go from our lives, but only a handful of them truly make a difference in our future. It’s impossible to choose who my biggest role model is, it’s what they taught me what matters. Things like loyalty, so, who is my biggest role model. If I have to answer. It had to be my father,” the lessons he taught me and the things he has been through to survive all of that. It’s crazy for one man. I look up to him the most, right now, that’s my biggest role model.

What are your parents most likely to yell from the stands?

Keep ya head up boi. You got this. Just do yo job and everything we’ll fall into place, listen to ya coach and play the game you know, let’s goo boy. Those are things he’d say or nothing.
He usually grades my games and gives me a car speech on the way home.

What are your team and personal goals for the season?

1.) be better than last years team
2.) be the strongest team we can be
3.) make it to state
4.) make sure no one feels left out, feel like a family as a whole
Personal
1.) be the best football player I can be for the team
2.) get better provide for the team as much as I can.

If you could have dinner with three people, living or dead, who would you choose?

Easy, Ray Lewis, Eric Berry, and Tom Brady, that would be the best dinner ever.

What hobby do you have that might surprise people?

I don’t have any hobbies that people don’t know about.

What’s your favorite sport, other than football, to play or watch?

Probably basketball I don’t play or watch it that much though I am good at basketball.

What is one thing you hope other players can learn from you?

To be relentless and never give up. Keep going grind for what you want. And well, when you hit the field, turn the kill switch ON.

Cathedral Prep moves up to 5A this season. Your thoughts?

I feel confident about it. I feel like the team is in a good spot right now we are going to do some damage to these 5A teams nothing cocky I just believe in the team.
We can make history, that’s how I see it.
