Coming off a winless 2020 campaign, the Greenville Trojans are looking to improve in 2021.
“We are looking to compete every week,” head coach Brian Herrick said.
And with five starters returning on both offense and defense, the Trojans should not only compete, but improve on its 2020 record.
With the return of offensive linemen, Anthony Gentile and Nick Eynon, and running back Mason Dickens, Coach Herrick believes his team’s ground game will be a significant strength. Both Gentile and Eynon have the physical attributes to create big holes for the speedy Dickens to make plays. Newcomer Malachi Hyde should also see plenty of carries at running back.
Defense was a liability for Greenville last season, with the unit giving up 40+ points in four of its eight games. But coach Herrick believes that the experience returning on defense will lead to improvements in the unit, stating it is all about the little things and the fundamentals.
“We need to swarm to the football and tackle well,” he said.
