Corry Pennsylvania – 9/6/2024

A rain filled game at Sheen field in Corry was a wet, wild thriller ending with a 19-13 Fort LeBeouf victory.

The game began just before the hardest rain of the night began. Once the rain kicked up however, the game got very interesting. 4 fumbles in 2 minutes with a give away by both teams. Then a muffed punt for Fort LeBeouf lead to the first score of the game from the Beavers throwing for the touchdown in the rain.

Corry was able to get the ball back and it looked like the rout maybe on but the Fort LeBeouf secondary came up huge with an interception on the Beaver 38 yard line. 2 plays later the Bison struck with a 34 yard touchdown pass from Dominic Walters to Hunter Villa. After the completed 2 point conversion Fort LeBeouf lead 8-7.

After a Corry punt, Fort LeBeouf marched 82 yards to strike again this time from 13 yards away and tack on another completed 2 point conversion to extend their lead to 16-7. The momentum was entirely with the Bison but Corry scratched and clawed their way down the field on a 16 play drive. The Beavers scored on 4 yard Nick Lesher touchdown, but the extra point was no good. The score at the half was Fort LeBeouf 16 and Corry 13.

The second half saw the return of the hard rain. The second half also saw the slow and constant take over of the game by Xavier Blose. Run after run Blose marched the Bison down the field slowly and methodically, eating up the game clock. Fort Lebeouf reached the Corry 10 yard line before the Beavers defense saved the day forcing a 32 yard field goal attempt in the driving rain, but to everyone’s surprise the kick was good and the Bison led 19-13.

The next Corry drive ended in a punt and the Xavier Blose show was back on for Fort LeBeouf. The Bison marched the distance of the field running the game clock all the way down to 9 minutes remaining in the game before the Corry defense was able to force another Fort LeBeouf field goal attempt. The snap was low causing the holder to attempt to run for the score for the Bison, but the Beavers stopped the runner at the 1 yard line causing a turnover on downs.

Starting on their own 1 yard line with less than 9 minutes to play and trailing by 6. Corry gained two first downs but the drive stalled and they were forced to punt the ball away with 6 minutes remaining in the game. A huge injury occurred when Senior Quarterback Nolan Carey went down on the final play of the failed drive for the Beavers.

When Fort LeBeouf took over at their own 38 it was more of Xavier Blose. After trading possessions, Corry backup Quarterback Lucas Baker took over from his own 20 with 1:29 to play trailing 19-13. Baker hit a 42 yard bomb to Keaton Frisina down to the 1 yard line. Corry spiked the ball and attempted to rush into the end-zone 3 straight plays but the Bison defense stood strong preventing the score and forcing the turn over on downs. The game ended 19-13 in favor of Fort LeBeouf.

Corry falls to (2-1) and will face (0-3) North East next week.

Fort Lebeouf moves to (2-1) and will face (0-3) Girard next week.
