County wins 84th Erie Lions Club Save an Eye Game @save_an_eye

Erie – County erased an early deficit, then held on for a 27-19 win over Metro in the 84th Erie Lions Club Save an Eye game.
The Metro Allstars struck first when McDowell’s Jacob Skolnik scored on a 4-yard keeper.

Fort LeBoeuf’s Tristan Harris then returned the ensuing kickoff 86 yards for a touchdown.
The Metro regained the lead early in the second quarter as Erie High’s Kre Thompson scored from two yards out.
Right before halftime, the County Allstars beat the clock, and Harris scored on a 3-yard run with 36 seconds to play, capping a 90-yard drive.
Harris ran for 56 yards on ten carries and added an interception on defense with his special teams score.
County took a 14-13 lead into the locker room.
General McLane’s John Amon hauled a 19-yard touchdown pass from Northwestern’s Ryan Tewell to begin the second half as County took 7:23 off the clock.
Metro was able to pull themselves to within 21-19 when Lamere Byrd caught a 12-yard touchdown from Skolnik.
Northwestern teammates Jordon Dohanic and Ryan Tewell connected on a 6-yard touchdown pass with three seconds to play in the third quarter extending County’s lead to 27-19.

Metro had one last chance to tie the game and head into overtime when they drove from their five-yard line to the County 28. With one second remaining on the clock, Skolnik’s pass fell incomplete, giving County a thrilling 27-19 victory.
Jacob Skolnik went 12-for-35, passing for 146 yards with two interceptions while adding 73 yards rushing and a score.
Erie High’s Jermaine Selby added 50 yards rushing on nine carries, while Harbor Creek’s Matt Cassidy chipped in with four receptions for 78 yards.
