Meadville – If you like offense, then Frank B. Fuhrer Field was the place to be Friday night.
In the highest-scoring District 10 Football Showcase to date, the North and South combined for 101 points and 15 touchdowns, with nearly 1000 yards of total offense.
In the end, the North outgunned the South 61-40 on the campus of Allegheny College.
The game opened with touchdowns on the first five possessions of the game. The North opened the scoring with Fort LeBoeuf’s Tristan Harris capping a 9-play 80-yard drive with a 4-yard touchdown run.
It would simply be a prelude to a crescendo of offense.
The South went on a 13-play, 80-yard drive with Slippery Rock’s Shane Thompson scoring from two yards out. Thompson rushed for 39 yards on nine carries.
Harbor Creek’s Matt Cassidy hauled a screen pass from General McLane’s John Amon for a 32-yard touchdown pass that gave the North a 14-7 lead early in the second quarter.
