Meadville – If you like offense, then Frank B. Fuhrer Field was the place to be Friday night.

In the highest-scoring District 10 Football Showcase to date, the North and South combined for 101 points and 15 touchdowns, with nearly 1000 yards of total offense.

In the end, the North outgunned the South 61-40 on the campus of Allegheny College.

The game opened with touchdowns on the first five possessions of the game. The North opened the scoring with Fort LeBoeuf’s Tristan Harris capping a 9-play 80-yard drive with a 4-yard touchdown run.

It would simply be a prelude to a crescendo of offense.

The South went on a 13-play, 80-yard drive with Slippery Rock’s Shane Thompson scoring from two yards out. Thompson rushed for 39 yards on nine carries.

Harbor Creek’s Matt Cassidy hauled a screen pass from General McLane’s John Amon for a 32-yard touchdown pass that gave the North a 14-7 lead early in the second quarter.

Greenville’s Levi Swartz scored on a 14-yard run to pull the South to a point at 14-13.

Two plays later, Harris was in the end zone again off a 71-yard touchdown reception for Northwestern’s Ryan Tewell.

Fort LeBoeuf’s Ryan Daum then intercepted Lakeview’s Gavin Murdock at the South’s 21-yard line, which led to Cochranton’s Jack Martinec’s 7-yard touchdown run.

Murdock shook off the interception and scored on an 8-yard run the next drive.

The North capped off a wild second quarter as Harris caught a 47-yard pass from Tewell and scored his third touchdown of the half on a 3-yard run with 36 seconds to play.

The North led the South 34-19 at halftime.

On the North’s opening play of the second half, Harris ripped off a 77-yard touchdown run. Tristan Harris finished the night with 235 yards of total offense. Harris rushed for 117 yards on 12 carries and four touchdowns while catching two passes for 118 yards.

Following a Gage Brokcett interception, Amon scored from a yard out, pushing the North’s lead to 47-19.

The South was able to get one back on their next drive when Lakeview’s Calogano Wilkins scored on a 25-yard pass from Greenville’s Jalen Ritzert. Wilkins had two catches for 57 yards on the drive. Ritzert completed 7-of-15 passes for 136 yards and the score.

Harris scored his final touchdown of the night to close out the third quarter on a 12-yard run.

The South scored back-to-back touchdowns in the fourth quarter as Butler’s Ethan Trettel hauled in an 8-yard pass from Murdock, then caught a 41-yard pass that, due to game rules, was an onside kick. Trettel had six grabs for 118 yards.

Grove City’s Curtis Hovis then scored from three yards out. Hovis rushed for 77 yards on 14 carries to lead the South.

John Amon would bring the scoring to a close as he ran a 30-yard touchdown with 3:05 to play. Amon rushed for 51 yards and two touchdowns on six carries while completing 5-of-10 passes for 92 yards with a touchdown and an interception.
