Friday Night I was in Russell, Pa. to watch the highly anticipated matchup between visiting Cambridge Springs high school and the hometown heroes the Eisenhower Knights. The Blue Devils came in supporting a 1-1 record, while the Knights came in at 3-1. Both teams have a very run-heavy offense which made me believe this could be a really short game that could be very low scoring.

The first quarter was nothing but defense as both teams found out early that neither was going to be able to run the ball very easily and with just one pass, the biggest play of the quarter was a 29-yard reception by Wyatt Lookenhouse, with 5:46 left to excite the home side crowd.

Ethan Counasse would make a nice 13-yard catch for the BlueDevils to move the chains. with 9:36 left in the half. The Knights defense would make a nice play to shut down the drive when Tucker Lindell got to Van Jones for a short loss.

The first points of the game came from the Knights defense when Shawn Pascuzzi made an easy pick and took it to the house making this a 6-0 game. After Jake Venman connected on the point after kick the scoreboard read 7-0 Knights, with 3:39 left in the half.

In the last 3:35 of the half, the Knights got a nice play from Aiden Heubach who crushed Counasse for a loss of four. They also got a really nice twenty-two-yard run from Keegan Eckstrom. The Blue Devils would see Josh Gorton takedown Pascuzzi for a big ten-yard loss.

The third quarter would see two nice offensive plays with the first coming on a nineteen-yard run by the Knights Eckstrom. The other was a 36-yard reception by Van Jones. The one defensive play that stood out happened with 7:11 left in the quarter and that was a tackle on Kaiden Boozer by the Knights Gannon Jaquay that resulted in a five-yard loss.

One could say that the Knights offense ruled the fourth quarter because of these three plays. Two runs that totaled fifty yards from Benji Bauer, that set up the only offensive score of the game and that was a six-yard run by Bauer. Bauer would end this night with a game-high ninety-two yards, with sixty-eight of them coming on the scoring drive.
