You never know what can happen in a rivalry game, but Meadville made it clear on the first two plays that there would be no upset bid by Conneaut Area. The Bulldogs recovered a CASH fumble on the kickoff and set the tone on their first play from scrimmage with a 15-yard touchdown run by star athlete Khalon Simmons.

And Meadville never looked back. The Bulldogs notched 62 unanswered points on way to a 62-0 blanking of the CASH Eagles.

“Our guys came out and executed the game plan,” Meadville coach Ray Collins said after the game. “It’s a rivalry game, so we were fired up to play. The line did a heck of a job upfront opening up holes. Overall, I was very pleased with the effort.”

Simmons lit up the scoreboard with four total first-half touchdowns, including rushing touchdowns of 15, 3, and 14 yards, along with a 34-yard touchdown reception.

Brady Walker also got in on the action with three touchdowns in the game, including rushing touchdowns of 21, 1, and 20 yards.

Simmons added another 20-yard touchdown run in the second half, and punt returner Nic Williams added a 65-yard touchdown return.

While the Bulldog defense continued its dominance, the offense showed several sets — approximately half of the snaps under center in the traditional Wing-T that Meadville is known for, and the other half in the shotgun with spread formations.

“We’ve been mixing in the spread since week one, and it continues to get better each week,” Coach Collins said. “It’s no longer something we just tinker around with. It’s a main part of our offensive package now.”

CASH falls to 0-4 on the season. Meadville improves to 5-0 and eyes a big Region 4 showdown with Oil City next Friday. Oil City is 4-1 after falling 21-20 to Northwestern this evening.
