Mercyhurst Prep runs pass Eisenhower 48-21 powered by Vinnie Feliciano’s 285 yards and 4 touchdowns.
The games first score came on a gadget play from Mercyhurst Prep on their first offensive possession. They ran a receiver screen but the receiver was Quarterback Everett Cottrill who proceeded to throw up a deep bomb to a wide open Ty Quinn for a 70 yard touchdown.
After an Eisenhower 3 and out the Lakers went right back to work with a 75 yard drive featuring Feliciano and capped off with a 3 yard touchdown run for fullback Clay Wojecki. That made the score 14-0 Mercyhurst late in the 1st quarter.
Eisenhower responded in typical knights fashion with a gritty 46 yard drive ending with a Jakubczak 4 yard touchdown run bringing Eisenhower back within 1 score down 14-7.
The next possession for Mercyhurst ended in an interception but after a 3 and out Eisenhowers punt attempt was thwarted by a high snap turning the ball back over to the Lakers at the Knights 30 yard line. 1 Play later, Vinnie Feliciano struck again with a 30 yard rushing touchdown extending the lead to 21=7.
Eisenhower did not yield and fought their way down the field on a long 62 yard drive and with 59 seconds left in the first half Caleb Jakubczak hit a screen pass to Logan Penley for a 15 yard Knights touchdown. At the end of the first half the score was Mercyhurst 21 and Eisenhower 14.
The second half started with a bang as Tyshaun Tate returned the opening kickoff to the endzone for Mercyhurst taking their lead to 28-14. After an Eisenhower fumble was recovered by the Lakers, Feliciano took off for 61 yards and his second score of the day making it 35-14 in favor of Mercyhurst.
Eisenhower was forced to turn the ball over on downs and Mercyhurst then drove 65 yards capped off with a 7 yard rushing touchdown for Vinnie Feliciano. This took the score to 42-21 at the end of the 3rd quarter.
An Eisenhower interception gave the ball back to Mercyhurst and with the clock winding down the games outcome was no longer in question. Feliciano was not done however as he found the endzone for a 4th time on a 76 yard touchdown run to extend the Lakers lead to 48-21 where it would remain until the final whistle.
Eisenhower falls to 4-5 on the season with the loss while Mercyhurst Prep moves to 6-3 heading into the final week of the regular season. Vinnie Feliciano now has over 2,000 yards rushing for the season.
