Erie – McDowell’s Ben Moore has a recording setting day as the Metro knocks off the County 29-15.
A Slippery Rock recruit, Moore completed 20-of-29 passes for 309 yards and three touchdowns.
The previous record was held by Cathedral Prep’s Tim Beveridge, who threw for 304 yards in 2016.
On the Metro’s first snap of the game, Moore connected with fellow McDowell teammate Ray Jackson for 58 yards before tossing a 7-yard touchdown to Jackson to open the scoring.

Jackson also had an interception in the end zone to end the County’s drive after they drove to the Metro 21-yard line in the second quarter – and finished the game with eight catches for 163 yards.
The Metro extended their lead to 14-0 early in the second quarter when Moore threw a 19-yard touchdown to Fairview’s Tyler Corbin. Moore went 4-for-4 for 60 yards on the drive.

Initially, Northwestern’s Ben Campbell connected on a 34-yard field to conclude the half, but a roughing of the kicker penalty gave the County another possibility from the 9-yard line.
After holding the County on downs at their 41-yard field line, the Metro pushed their lead to 21-8 when McDowell’s Christian Santiago scored on a 5-yard run 12 plays later.
