Wide Receiver
Blue Mountain
6-3, 195
Class of 2027
All-State
Committed to West Virginia
There is a little controversy about where the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Shenandoah river are located when it comes to the famous John Denver song that Mountaineer fans no how to belt out more than anyone else, and as to why they’ve adopted a song that very likely could be about Western Virginia, not West Virginia the state.
One thing isn’t in doubt in Morgantown, WV. They’re getting a heck of a player from Blue Mountain High School, which ironically is located in the Blue Mountains section of the Appalachian mountains (they actually do run through West Virginia), just 18 miles from, yep, Shenandoah, PA. (see what I did there?)
Chase Guers made his pledge to the Mountaineers last week. What are they getting in Morgantown out of a guy like K scooters well, for starters he was an Allstate football player last year for the eagles. He had 909 all-purpose yards 35 receptions, 15 point yards per catch, and eight touchdowns. His 6 foot three 190 LB frame and speed and agility make him a great choice for West Virginia at wide receiver.
We caught up with Chase to ask about his decision, and a little more about the person/player:
PFN: Why did you choose to commit to them before your Sr season?
I choose to do this to just get the stress of the recruiting process off my shoulders and the place just felt like home
PFN: Who was your biggest influence there, who recruited you?
My biggest influence to the recruiting was coach Garrett the Wr coach at West Virginia
PFN: What are they getting in player like you?
They are getting a player who is going to stick his head down and work everyday to get 1% better everyday. Just a person who going to try and prove himself everyday
PFN: What was the recruiting process like for you?
It was very fun and they very stressful at times when you had to start narrowing down and just figuring the places you want to go and see that weekend and just trying to see who is telling the truth and showing that they want you and seeing the lies in the recruiting process
PFN: What position were you recruited for?
Wide receiver
PFN: Do you know what you’d like to study?
Plan is to study, sports broadcasting, business and architecture are the three right now
PFN: What role did your parents play in your decision?
They where one of the biggest roles for taking time out of there day and work to go with me to see the colleges go to these camp and just give me advice and just make sure my head is always in the right space
PFN: What do you think is the most exciting thing about the program?
Everything about WVU is exciting with the culture that Coach rod is building and having the championship standard that I know that they are going to reach in the next few years
PFN: What are you most looking forward to while playing for them?
Playing for the name on the front and the back of my jersey it is an honor to represent the state of WVU and to represent my home town and my high school
PFN: Tell everyone out there in the football world something they’d never know about you until you told them:
Something I would tell them that I used to play baseball all the time until football came into my life and now I love football and don’t play baseball
PFN: Who is the person who most influenced you in your football career?
The people who influenced me the most is my family who just pushed me everyday to be a better version of my self everyday and to make sure that I am in the right headspace when it comes to this stuff
Why do you play football?
Cause I saw my brothers play the sport and I just loved watching the game when they played and I couldn’t play at the time cause I was so young and my brothers pushed me to be better everyday at it and that why I love it
What would you do to improve the recruiting process?
Just enjoy the journey, and just be you cause if you act fake to the coaches and the recruiters cause they just want to see the real side of you and that’s just not the real you.
PFN: What is it you’d like all your high school teammates and fans to know about your decision that you might have a hard time saying in person?
That this was probably one of the hardest decisions of my life just all the schools that I had offers from I love that they just gave me an opportunity and I have no diss to no school that gave me a shot it was just a stressful process and things happened and I love the place I chose
What are your goals for this coming season?
To be first team all state and steal my brothers Wr school records
Tell everyone why you think football is good for a community
It is great for the community, just the brother hood that comes out of the tuff sport with going through heat acc and all the 2 days just as a team and having fun with it and just all the friendships that I made through this sport. I wouldn’t be who I am today with out this sports
what is your favorite pregame ritual?
I have a drink that I drink and I have an article of clothing I wear every game and just talking to the lord upstairs and see where his plan is for me this game and my future
Music of choice:
Country
