PASSING
Tre Jordan of Pius X was the only quarterback in the District to throw for over 200 yards in week eight. Jordan threw for 362 yards and 4 td’s in their win over Pottsville Nativity. Jordan, a junior, now has thrown 40 career td passes. Travis Edmond of Southern Lehigh is tied with his brother Ty for the school’s single season td pass record. Both have 19, while Travis now has 50 career td passes and needs 91 yards to reach 5,000 yards passing for his career. Doug Erney of Liberty now has 1,836 yards passing and has thrown 18 td passes this year. The yardage places him in 2nd place at Liberty behind Dan Persa’s 2,104 yards that he set in 2006. Erney’s 18 td passes is good enough for 3rd place at Liberty behind Persa’s 24 and 21 td seasons of 2005 and 2006. Erney, a junior, also joined the “4,000 yard” club and now has thrown for 4,047 yards in his career. Erney leads Jordan by 30 yards for the District lead in passing yards this year, while Jordan is first in the District with 22 td passes. Bobby Grigas of undefeated North Schuylkill threw for 4 td passes in their win over previously unbeaten Jim Thorpe. Grigas was 5 of 6 for 100 yards in the game and now has 1,042 yards and 16 td passes on the year and 30 td passes for his career. Julian Spigner of Bethlehem Catholic went over 3,000 yards passing in his career and now has 3,087 yards and 36 td’s. Nick Rodichok of Williams Valley joins the 1,000 yard group for the season and now has thrown for 1,081 yards.
RECEIVING
Tevin Murray of North Schuylkill kept the streak alive when he caught 3 catches for 60 yards and 3 td’s. That’s eight weeks with at least one player catching 3 td’s in a game. Murray, a junior at 6′ 5″, now has 27 catches on the year with 9 of them going for touchdowns. Freddie Simmons of Bethlehem Catholic had an 80 yard td run. He also had a 90 yard kick-off return td called back. Simmons is still one td catch behind Golden Hawk career record holder Frank Trovato, who had 20 td catches from 2000-02. Cam Richardson of Northwestern caught his District leading 11th td pass last week. That gives him 20 for his career. Nate Stewart of Pius X also has 20 career td catches and now has 101 career catches. Stewart stretched his District 11 reception’s lead to 52. Stewart also took over first place in reception yardage with 672 yards. Ethan Price of Southern Lehigh drops to second with 657 yards and Jake Kober is close behind with 646 yards. Blake Cassalia of Palisades caught 9 passes for 184 yards and 2 td’s in their win over Notre Dame. The 9 catches ties the school record which is held by Ron Gelegonya. Gelegonya had 9 catches in a game in 1990. Conner Sullivan of Whitehall now has 1,001 yards receiving for his career.

Week 5 Trivia: Michael McDaniel has 43 career td’s which puts him in fifth place all-time at Bethlehem Catholic. Name the four players ahead of him. 1. Eddie Scipio 66 td’s (1998-2001), 2. Tim Barlock 62 td’s (1996-98). 3. Bob Tarola 55 td’s (1965-67). 4. Erik Marsh 46 td’s (1987-90). McDaniel scored 3 td’s vs ESN and is now tied with Marsh.

Week 3 Trivia: Name the three teams in District 11 that have never had consecutive years with a 1,000 yard rusher. Allen (1972, 86, 93), North Schuylkill (1968, 75, 2008, 10, 12), Salisbury (1973, 82, 93, 99, 2001)
Week 1&2 Trivia: Let’s try this again. Which District 11 team had the most consecutive years with a 1,000 yard rusher? Northern Lehigh holds the record with 10 consecutive years (1996-2005). It started with Mike Lilly and ended with Nick Hosford. Bethlehem Catholic missed out on a streak of 14 years when sophomore Lee Brennan fell 18 yards short in 1993. Brian Baker was injured early in the season and was lost for the year. Brennan replaced him and finished the year with 982 yards. QB Danny Kendra III had 696 yards. Parkland was 2nd with 9 consecutive years (1995-03). Current streaks that are still alive, are Schuylkill Haven with 8, Tri-Valley and Williams Valley with 6, Whitehall with 5, Stroudsburg with 4 and Pleasant Valley with 3. Five of these teams has a player on the chart.
