EMMAUS- For the second week in a row, the Emmaus Hornets met up with an Allentown city school and the result was similar. Last week it was a 58-0 demolition of William Allen. Thursday night Louis E Dieruff made their way into EPSD Stadium and found themselves in a hole early, as Emmaus scored three times in their first six plays en route to a 63-0 victory. Before a sparse crowd at the Hornet Nest.

Quarterback Jake Fotta threw for 115 yards and three score while completing eight of ten passes. Brandon Camire, who had accounted for five touchdowns last week from his running back position, found the end zone four times while picking up 148 yards on just seven touches. Back-up running back Tylik Jarvis picked up nearly 100 yards and two scores in the debacle.

Emmaus got things rolling early, taking advantage of a Huskie turnover, Motta hooked up with Jameel Sanders for a 37 yard score  just 2:34 into the contest and a 7-0. The first of Camire’s scores came on a 66 yard jaunt down the far sidelines came at the 6:16 mark. About three minutes later Motta connected with Jaiden Robinson for an eleven yard score. Camire then took a handoff and scampered 37 yards with just eighteen seconds left in the opening quarter and a 28-0 lead.

The home team extended the lead to 49-0 by halftime,  the game was into mercy-rule the rest of the way.  Gabe Trexler took in a Fotta pass from nine yards out at the 9:31 mark. Two more scores by Camire from 3 yards and 36 yards hi-lighted the second quarter.

Emmaus freely using their substitutes in the second half, kept the ball on the ground, with Jarvis carrying much of the load, scoring twice. First on a 32 yard run with 8:27 left in the third quarter then closing out the scoring for the night on a two yard run with 11:27 remaining in the contest.

The Hornets defense swarmed Dieruff all night long, just as they did with Allen, allowing the Caneries 72 yards. The Huskies were held to just 40 yards of offense, 20 of which came on the last play of the game. Emmaus forced four turnovers as well, 2 interceptions and two fumble recoveries.

“The kids have been working hard this season and this is their time to show what they can do.” Emmaus coach Harold Fairclough stated. “They did a great job tonight, but we know the road gets tougher next week. We have a big step up in competition going forward.” He concluded.

That step up is with another Allentown school- the Central Catholic Vikings, that game will be at J. Birney Crum Stadium next Saturday. The Vikings are 1-1 and will be facing William Allen Saturday night.
