BETHLEHEM- Saturday night at BASD Stadium The Bethlehem Freedom Patriots sent a message to the rest of the EPC South, that they will be a team to be reckoned with as this season goes forward as they dominated the defending 4A State Semifinalists and cross-town rivals of Bethlehem Catholic 37-20 before a decent size crowd.
The Patriots jumped out to a 21-0 behind the running of senior running back Jalen Stewart, who had scores of 36, 4 and 5 yards thru 2 quarters, plus a 26 yard scoring pass from Jared Jenkins to Gabriel Caton extended thd lead to 28-7 at intermission. A Tavion Banks 3 yard run was only points that the Golden Hawks could muster in the first half.
Bethlehem Catholic was able to cut the lead to 28-20 after taking the second half kickoff from their own 28 culminating in a Banks 14 yard score, however the PAT was blocked. Becahi’s QB Zamar Brake scored on a two yard run.

Freedom then came up with a huge third down conversion from their own 45 needing nine yards to continue the drive, Jenkins hit a wide open Caton down the near sidelines for a 55 yard score and a 35-20 with 1:45 left in the third quarter.
The Patriots closed out the scoring on a 27 yard field goal by Nicholas Stennard with 7:34 left in the contest.

This was third time in a row that Freedom has defeated the Golden Knights, the preseason favorites in the EPC South.
“We knew they would give us a battle tonight. That is a heck of a football team. We prepared our team for this game all week and we exucuted the gameplan.” A victorious coach Jason Roeder said afterwards.
Freedom now 2-0 in the EPC will face 2-0 Parkland Friday night at BASD Stadium. Parkland coming off back to back shutouts 41-0 over Northampton and 52-0 over Allentown Central Catholic. Bethlehem Catholic 1-1 tries to get back on track Saturday night at BASD Stadium against 2-0 Bethlehem Liberty who defeated Pocono Mountain East 42-7 Friday night.
