Hollywood’s Cutting Room Floor-Colonial League Week 3.

The book on week three of the high school football season in the Schuylkill/Colonial League wasn’t closed until Monday night,after two games took place. The first being Bangor at Blue Mountain and the second Northern Lehigh was at Tamaqua. The latter was called at halftime after a severe thunderstorm passed through the area, knocking out power at the stadium with power lines and trees down as officials ruled the game over with Northern Lehigh up 21-0.

To recap final scores from this past weekend, featuring Colonial League teams:

Some of the top performances include:

Justin Holmes, Quarterback, Northwestern Lehigh

Completed 8 of 15 passes for 184 yards, he also ran for 121 yards on 21 carries, accounting for five touchdowns(two via the airwaves and three on the ground) in defeating Southern Lehigh 34-19

Jaden Newton, QB, Palisades

In the Pirates win over Pen Argyl 27-0, Justin threw for 111 yards on 9 for 10 passes, rushed for 21 yards and scored a touchdown.

Colin Quintano, QB, Notre Dame Green Pond

No stranger to this list is Colin Quintano, throwing for 236 yards four touchdowns and completing 19 out of 31 passes in his teams shutout of Salisbury Twp 48-0

Kai Stiansen, RB, Palisades

Kai carried the ball 23 times against Pen Argyl for 131 yards and a touchdown. In addition he threw a 46 yard touchdown pass just for good measure.

After two weeks of play in the District XI Power Rankings in the 2A Classification, Northern Lehigh leads the way with an 2-1 record and a rating of .5982, followed by Catasauqua, the Roughriders are undefeated at 3-0 with an .5900 rating. In 3A Notre Dame Green Pond is second behind North Schuylkill both teams are 3-0, North Schuylkill has a .8100 rating while the Crusaders are at .6340. We have three teams sitting in the cat bird’s seat in 4A, Allentown Central Catholic, Northwestern Lehigh and Wilson Area are all 3-0, the Vikings have the edge in the ratings with a .7572, followed by Northwestern’s .6724 and Wilson’s .6715. Southern Lehigh is only Colonial League school in 5A and they 4th in the rankings at 0-3 and a .4100 rating, compared to Whitehall’s .7078 which leads the classification.
