The Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes beat the Tri Valley Bulldogs with a final score of 27-21. Leyden Hertz, Augustus Warke, Aiden Myers, and Niko Carestia all reached the endzone for the Hurricanes. Noah Porter had all three Bulldog touchdowns.
The first half of play appeared to be a strong showing by the Bulldogs. Porter started off the scoring with a 19-yard touchdown. Layne Yoder then intercepted an off-target ball, giving the Bulldogs a slight edge. However, the energy shifted when Hertz caught a 25-yard pass from Warke for a touchdown. Other key plays from the half included a fumble recovery by Carestia, a sack by Aidan Clauser, and an interception by Hertz. After a hectic half of back-and-forth aggression, the score was knotted at 7.
The second half was just as action-packed and came down to the wire. Porter ran 63 yards to put his Bulldogs back on top. The Hurricanes then answered right back with a quarterback sneak by Warke from five yards out. No one saw the endzone again until Myers rushed in from 4 yards out in the first minutes of the final quarter. The Hurricanes attempted to stop the Bulldogs, but they managed to convert on fourth-down opportunities and Porter scored once again. With tensions high and a tie game, the Hurricanes made one final drive. With less than a minute remaining, Carestia was pushed into the endzone, closing out the game and giving the Hurricanes the victory.
The Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes will take on the Palisades Pirates and the Tri Valley Bulldogs will face off against Executive Education Academy.
