Marian Catholic runs wild 27-0 over Panther Valley

One of the first ingredients in the recipe for “How to Build a Good Football Team” is having an elite running back. The Marian Catholic Colts have just that. Sophomore speedster Rory Dixon tallied 33 carries, 159 yards, and 3 scores as his squad blanked Panther Valley on Thursday. “It just feels great, man. It’s a big rivalry game, and we haven’t played them in a few years. I’m glad we got it back. I remember watching Marian (Marian Catholic) and PV (Panther Valley) play when I was a kid as a waterboy. We knew coming in it was going to be a good game, and we were fortunate enough to get a win.”
I also got a chance to chat with Buffalo commit Michael Gelatko about his new role in the offense and his rushing touchdown. “Yeah, we put that play in, I wanna say yesterday or the day before, and we ran it twice in practice. So when Coach O’Gurek called it, I was kinda worried, but it went well, though.”
Both teams made their way into opposing territory early in the first quarter, exchanging turnovers before Rory Dixon cashed in on a 5-yard scoring carry. (1:45 1st, PAT blocked) The defenses found themselves in a gridlock for the next few possessions before TE Michael Gelatko lined up in the backfield and took a handoff into the end zone. (13-0, PAT good, 4:34 2nd) The second half began the same, as we saw most of the second quarter with teams getting into each other’s territory but failing to capitalize. Marian then had a big punt return that put them in good field position. The Colts were then able to run the ball exclusively downfield and cash in yet again via a Rory Dixon TD. (3:14 3rd, PAT good) Rory Dixon rumbled into the end zone once more with 12.9 seconds remaining in the third.
