The Nazareth Blue Eagles closed the regular season with a shutout win over the Easton Red Rovers 40-0. Sophomore quarterback Peyton Falzone was unavailable for Nazareth, but Senior star receiver Mason Kuehner stepped up and showed out. Kuehner’s first touchdown pass came early in the form of a 24-yard dot to Caleb Newsome. Kicker Nathan Baker then added 3 for the Blue Eagles with a 31-yard field goal. The next Nazareth touchdown came from Marquez Wimberly, who rushed 10 yards before crossing the goal line. The Red Rovers struggled to answer and Nazareth was able to get back down into the redzone, where Nathan Baker hit his second field goal of the game from 22 yards out to close out the first. The score was 20-0 Nazareth at the half, with not much going for the Red Rovers. In the third quarter, Jed Bendekovits scored for the Blue Eagles on a 5-yard run and in the fourth, Bendekovits was able to add another after a 24 yard rush. In between Bendekovits two touchdowns, Keuhner ran 7 yards to get one for himself. Keuhner carried the ball 18 times throughout the game and ran for a total of 154 yards. The Rovers had one big push down the field in the third quarter, but Caleb Newsome squashed any hopes of a score after a Blue Eagle interception. Nathan Baker, Nazareth’s kicker, was a perfect 4/4 on PATs in addition to his field goals. Nazareth ended the regular season 9-1 overall, while Easton fell to 3-7 to conclude their 2023 season. The Blue Eagles will advance to the District 11 Class 6A tournament now as a No. 2 seed, and will petition for a district championship.
