North Tops South in SCFCA All-Star Game

The final score of this All-Star matchup was 34-28.

Tonight’s game was entertaining and energetic as the top seniors around the league competed against each other. The first half of the game was full of scoring action. Brady Evans of Williams Valley started the game off strong for the South with a 31-yard touchdown catch from Pine Grove’s Mason Kroh. They then extended the lead on their next possession with a 1-yard quarterback keep from Kroh. The North stayed persistent and got on the board with an 8-yard score by North Schuylkill’s Jared Tinari. The following sequence of plays included back-to-back kickoff returns for scores. Pottsville’s Amaree Bainbridge ran 93 yards to score for the South. David Fiorito of Jim Thorpe returned the South’s kick and ran it 82 yards to score for the North. To tie up the score, Robbie Weitz from North Schuylkill scored from 8 yards out. The score was knotted at 21 at halftime.

The second half remained close. Evans scored again for the South, this time from 63 yards out. After this score, the North took control. Tinari ran in for a 7-yard touchdown and his teammate Jack Dean scored on their next possession. The North won this star-studded All-Star game with a final score of 34-28. 

For the South, Ian Donohue was the 2022 Lineman MVP. He is a well-rounded defensive end who had multiple tackles and quarterback rushes in tonight’s game. Brady Evans was the 2022 Offensive MVP for the South. He scored two touchdowns and showed his agility by snagging challenging throws.

For the North, Ryan Snyder received the 2022 Lineman MVP. He’s a strong defensive player who was involved in multiple plays to keep his team up late in the game. Jared Tinari was the 2022 Offensive MVP. He’s proven he can take off and score. He had two touchdowns tonight. 

Tonight’s game was a prime example of players being strong competitors and respectable athletes. Follow these players and their journeys as some will take the next steps in their football careers.
