Visiting Panther Valley snaps five game skid dating back to week-8 of 2024, spoiling Homecoming Night with win over Pine Grove 21 to 6 led by Quarterback-Brody Breiner who finished the game with over 100 yards on the ground.

For the second time in three weeks I have traveled out to Pine Grove and once again, it was a beautiful evening at Cardinal Stadium. It was HOMECOMING night as well for the Cardinals so a victory would make the night even more special for the hometown fans. Cardinals defense stepped up big on the Panthers first possession holding them to 22 yards on 8 plays. Pine Grove received the punt at the 9 and two false starts on the drive forced the Cards to punt it back to the Panthers. Panther Valley’s Ben Baneravage returned the ball to the Pine Grove 8 yard line with six minutes to go in the opening quarter. Three plays later, Quarterback-Brody Breiner connected with Peter Kruslicky from 8 yards out to give the Panthers a 6 to 0 lead following the failed PAT with 4:32 to go in the first.

Pine Grove again gave the ball back to the Panthers on their next drive, and following the turnover on downs, Panther Valley added another touchdown on the board when Freshman RB-Carson Jones ran it in from 3 yards outs on an impressive 12 play drive that started with :36 seconds to go in the first quarter, the score coming with 6:40 left until halftime. The touchdown by Jones gave the Panthers a 14 to 0 lead now with the 2-point conversion good. Each team traded possessions twice more before the half came to an end with the score still 14 to 0 Panther Valley leading.

Before the second half began, it was time to crown a new HOMECOMING KING/QUEEN, unfortunately I did not get the chance to meet up with them both but did however get to take a quick picture, and get the name of the QUEEN… Emma Brandt. Congratulations Emma !

Panther Valley added to their lead following a 3 play drive for the Cardinals resulting in a punt at which the Panthers needed a nice 9 play drive capped off with a 2 yard touchdown run by the Senior QB-Brody Breiner to give the Panthers a 21 to 0 lead with 4:24 to go in the 3rd. quarter.

Pine Grove again was forced to punt away, only to get the ball back shortly after when Panther Valley fumbled on the 3rd play and was recovered by the Cardinals at the Panthers 38. Nothing amounted on the ensuing drive for Pine Grove resulting in another turnover on downs with just :15 seconds to go in the 3rd. quarter. The next and final score of the game wouldn’t come until the 7:14 mark of the 4th quarter when the Cardinals put together their best drive of the game going 53 yards on 9 plays in just under 4 minutes to put some points on the board, trailing and eventually falling to the Panthers 21 to 6.

Up next for the Panthers(1-3) is a matchup on the road vs. (2-2)-Nativity BVM Green Wave.

Up next for the Cardinals(0-4) is a matchup on the road vs. (0-4)-Shenandoah Valley Blue Devils.
