NORTHAMPTON- Coming off what Parkland would call a disapointing 7-5 record last season. The Trojans, who are expected to contend for an EPC South title and possibly a shot at a District XI Championship went back to thier roots Friday night at Al Erdosy Stadium in routing the Konkrete Kids of Northampton by a score of 49-14 before a large crowd on opening night.

Led by running backs Isiah Rico and Angel Santos alomg with quarterback Tanner Lewis, Parkland amast 430 yards rushing. Rico accumulated 209 yards on 31 tallies and three scores. Santos finished the night with 106 yards on just 5 carries while Lewis had 72 yards on the night.
Parkland jumped out to a 28-0 lead by the third quarter, before Northampton cut the deficit to 28-14. Rico scored on 5 yard run to open the scoring capping off an 11 play 55 yard drive. Lewis scored on a 2 yard run to make it 14-0 at intermission. Santos found paydirt from 6 yards out and Lewis ripped of a 63 yard jaunt. Northampton’s quarterback Joe Kerbacher led his team back by scoring from 6 yards and 1 yard respectively.

That would be as close as the home team would get as Rico scored from 4 yards and another from 26 yards out. Ryan Zolotsky rounded off the scoring for the Trojans from 6 yards late in the fourth quarter.
“Northampton showed us some things we had to make adjustments to defensively. They did some things we had to get accustomed to on the offensive line. I think we did a good job on those adjustments.” Parkland coach Tim Moncman stated.
Next week Parkland will be at home against Allentown Central Catholic, who is hosting Stroudsburg Saturday night at J. Birney Crum Stadium, while Northampton will be at Dieruff to open up EPC North play.
