Pen Argyl Earns 500th Win, With Last Second Score @PAKnightFball @SalisburyFb

PEN ARGYL- The Pen Argyl Green Knights scrapped and fought their way in the second half, overcoming a 10 point deficit at halftime for an exciting and historic win over visiting Salisbury Twp. “Up On The Hill”. The Knights score on a 5 yard touchdown with 5.8 seconds left for a 17-16 victory, the 500th win in school history.

The game was hard fought by both squads and defense was the name of the game in the first half, with Salisbury converting two Pen Argyl turnovers for scores. The first after Delano McKenzie picked off an errant pass at his own 15, which led to a 29 yard field goal and a 3-0. The knights turned the ball over again with 10 minutes left before half at their 20 yard line. Salisbury scored on a 20 yard pass to Tim Buda from Jacob Kamp and a 10-0 lead at intermission.

Pen Argyl’s Conor Fehr then pick off a Kamp pass at the visitors 20 yard line early in the second half, which led to a 35 yard field goal by Eric Lobb cutting the lead to 10-3.

The Knights tied the score with another defensive gem as Tadd Barr picked off a Kamp pass and took it 58 yards for a score with 1:11 left in the 3rd quarter.

Salisbury took a 16-10 lead with 9:15 left in the contest as Kamp hit McKenzie on a 51 yard pass play, however the PAT was blocked leaving the score at 16-10.

Pen Argyl then started their game winning drive with about four minutes left to play, after a Salisbury punted to the home teams’ 20 yard line.

Aided by a facemask call and a big pass play. The Knights and ended up on the five of Salisbury. Barr rolled out and found his tight end Conner Kupres in the back of the end zone to tie the game at 16. Lobb connected with the point after giving his team the special win.

Pen Argyl first year coach John C. smith said afterward “This is a great community, the kids work so hard for this, they are so coachable.”

Pen Argyl (1-0) will host 1-0 Saucon Valley Saturday afternoon. Saucon defeated Southern Lehigh 27-13 Friday night.

Salisbury(0-1) will host Northwestern Lehigh Friday night. Northwestern defeated Notre Dame-Green Pond 42-41 in a shootout.
