LEHIGHTON- The Pottsville Crimson Tide football, after a season opening loss to Nativity BVM have been refocused to the task at hand going forward. On Saturday night at Lehighton’s Multi-Sport Stadium they made a statement against the Indians of Lehighton to the tune of a 48-0 shutout.

The Tide rolled to a 28-0 lead by halftime and put the mercy rule in effect early in the second half.
Quarterback Jazce Carabello-Snowell hooked up with Raeff DiCello for two touchdowns in the first quarter first from 34 yards and then from 43 to jump out to a 14-0 lead.

Snowell,then showed off his running skills as he found the end zone on a nifty 40 yard end around with just under two and half minutes left till half. He rushed for 61 yards on 8 carries as well as completing 4 of 8 passes for 145 yards and two scores.

Pottsville running back Bobby Walchak then made his present felt, by scoring from a yard out with just under 30 seconds left making the score 28-0 at intermission.

“We played well tonight. We eliminated some mistakes. We played a quality team in Lehighton. I thought on defense we made some plays that can make us a tough team to beat when we play like that.” Pottsville coach Tom McGeoy stated.

Pottsville came out receiving the second half kickoff and wasted little time sending the game into mercy rule status. Taking possession at their own 26 yard line, Snowell connected with DiCello, who raced through the Indian secondary before being taken down at the 19. Walchak capped off the two play drive by barreling his way to the end zone to make it 35-0.

Walchak, then dashed in from 54 yards out to make the score 42-0 with just under a minute left in the third quarter making the score 42-0.

The Tide dominated in every aspect of the game out-gaining Lehighton 441 to 91 including 296 yards rushing on 36 carries;

Pottsville Freshman running back Parrish McFarland closed out the scoring with a powerful 12 yard run late in the fourth quarter.
