Schuylkill-Colonial League District XI Playoff Preview: Class 1A thru 4A

DISTRICT XI-CLASS 1A: (4 teams qualify)
The Battlin’ Miners of Minersville(8-2) clinched the top spot in the Class 1A DXI playoffs. Rounding out the rest of the Class 1A standings, are #2-Marian Catholic Colts(6-4), #3-Tri-Valley Bulldogs(5-5), and #4-Nativity BVM Green Wave(5-5). Nativity will take on #1 seed Minersville on Friday night, while Marian will host #3-Tri-Valley. Both games are scheduled for 7:00pm. Nativity’s game against the Battlin’ Miners is a rematch from just this past week where Minersville defeated the Green Wave 42 to 12. Marian will try to rebound from their 16 to 6 week-9 loss to the Bulldogs at Bulldog stadium. This time the game will be in Colts country.
DISTRICT XI-CLASS 2A: (4 teams qualify)
Schuylkill Haven leads DXI Class 2A with an 8-2 record, even after their loss this last week to the Eagles of Blue Mountain. Following the Hurricanes into the playoffs will be the #2-Williams Valley Vikings(8-2), #3-Catasaqua Rough Riders(6-4), and #4-Executive Education Charter Academy(4-6). The Hurricanes return to the District XI playoffs after a few years of tough times. Schuylkill Haven will now have to deal with the defending DXI Class 2A Champion Raptors of EEAC out of Allentown area Saturday evening at 7:00pm. These two programs have met once before with the Raptors coming out on top 24 to 13 back in week-2 of 2021 at Rotary Field, Schuylkill Haven. Williams Valley will host the Rough Riders of Catasauqua Saturday night as well. The Vikings have been rolling as of late, posting 5 straight wins to close out the regular season, while Catty has won their last 3.
DISTRICT XI-CLASS 3A: (8 teams qualify)
This is the bracket with the most teams that qualify which in turn makes it the most fun. We have two undefeated teams remaining at the end of the regular season, with the the top spot for the DXI Class 3A going to defending DXI Class 3A Champions, Northwestern Lehigh Tigers(10-0). Following the Tigers are the #2-Palmerton Blue Bombers(10-0), #3-North Schuylkill Spartans(8-2), #4-Notre Dame-Green Pond Crusaders(7-3), #5-Saucon Valley Panthers(5-5), #6-Tamaqua Blue Raiders(5-5), #7-Jim Thorpe Olympians(4-6), and #8-Lehighton Indians(2-8). In the first round, we will see the Tigers take on Lehighton, Lehighton fell to the Tigers back in week-5 49 to 0, could be the same outcome this week unfortunately. Palmerton will host Jim Thorpe, a team the Blue Bombers struggled with some in a 41 to 31 victory in week-4. North Schuylkill will host Tamaqua in a matchup that would normally be a battle but the Blue Raiders are still trying to figure things out. In the final matchup of the DXI Class 3A playoffs, we see the Crusaders taking on the Panthers of Saucon Valley, a rematch from week-1 where NDGP defeated the Panthers 48 to 20.
DISTRICT XI-CLASS 4A: (4 teams qualify)
Another tough playoff bracket in District XI is of course Class 4A. Allentown Central Catholic Vikings are the top see, finishing their ever so tough regular season at 8-2. Following the Vikings are the #2-Blue Mountain Eagles(8-2), #3-Bethlehem Catholic Golden Hawks(5-5), and #4-Bangor Slaters(6-4). Central Catholic will host the Slaters of Bangor in their first round matchup while the Eagles and Golden Hawks will battle it out at the Eagles Nest. The Vikings come into the game winners of 4 in a row, most recently over the Golden Hawks 24 to 14, the Slaters winners last weekend 14 to 0 over Pen Argyl. The Eagles are flying high after last weekends victory over backyard rival Schuylkill Haven 37 to 14 and winners of their last 5 games, while Becahi started the season strong with 5 wins in a row, finishing with 5 straight losses to end the regular season.
