What is the best part about playing football?
Team bonding and brotherhood on the team. I’ve always been apart of teams in sports throughout my life, but with football there is a different aspect of brotherhood involved. You are trusting your teammates with your life, trusting they will hold their block or protect you from blind side hits and look out for you just like how you would look out for them. This tight friendship with your team expands off the field, with almost all of your teammates becoming best friends from all of the adversity and hardships you overcome together.

What has been your favorite memory from football so far?
My favorite memory was with Kevin Fitzpatrick during the Williams Valley game, where we shut down the tight end leading the state in receiving yards. He did not gain a single yard on Kevin and I.

Who is your favorite pro athlete and why?
Ichiro Suzuki is my favorite pro player because of the respect and integrity he brings to the game of baseball. He is always hustling, always picking his teammates up, and always producing on the field, doing his job in the batters box and in the outfield.

Is there any specific person you look up to and use as a role model?
I look up to Scott Buffington, Schuylkill Haven’s baseball coach, as a role model. He has been coaching high school baseball for over 40 years, and teaches his players not only how to play fundamentally sound baseball, but also how to be mature, respectful young men. Before every practice, he gathers the team in the dugout and talks to us about the game of baseball; past games, what we did well in, what we need to work on, what the week ahead of us looks like, but also he talks to us about life lessons. He preaches to remember who we represent, what it means to put on the Schuylkill Haven uniform, and what it means to play under the American flag flying in center field. My favorite moment with him is before every game, he gathers the team for a moment of silence for prayer. Afterwards, he goes over signs, and reminds us that we represent our school, our community, our family, and our maker, and tells us to play like champions. I can speak from experience, there is nothing more emotionally moving and motivational than those few words. It brings me immense joy knowing we were able to bring him his first ever state championship title just two days ago.

What would be your desired major in college?
Aerospace engineering, followed by aeronautical engineering as a close second.

Coming off a year with COVID struggles, what do you think this year will be like?
Coming back from a lost year of baseball from COVID, I can again speak from experience by saying players and coaches across the state will be sure to not take this year for granted, and any future years for granted, as a season can be lost in mere moments. As a team we individually only have four years to represent Schuylkill Haven and play under the Friday night lights, and when one of those years is threatened to be taken away from you, it makes you appreciate the little things, and to never take the opportunity to play sports for granted.

Favorite play to run?
Hail Merry pass

Favorite pre-game meal?
Bananas with brown specs on them (cannot be green).

Favorite place to eat out?
Luckenbills in Haven. Delicious family owned business.

Favorite sports movie?
The Waterboy without a doubt.

Pregame music genre to get you pumped up?
Metallica’s Ride The Lightning album.

Favorite class in school?
Calculus

Favorite activity you do during the offseason?
Amateur rocket building and mountain biking.

Other than your home stadium/field, what stadium/field would you rate the best?
North Schuylkill

Most embarrassing sports moment?
Walking back to the dugout after thinking I struck out when I only had two strikes, only to then officially strike out the next pitch.

College offers… If so, by what schools?
N/A

What are you looking forward to most this year?
Just being able to put on the football helmet for one last year and get some good hits in.
