After accounting for 1,121 total yards of offense, 16 TDS and 6 interceptions in the 2018 season, Stroudsburg wide receiver Benny Pembleton decided where he’d like to continue racking up yards and extend his education. On Friday, he committed to play for the East Stroudsburg Warriors and made his announcement via twitter. Benny had several offers such as Robert Morris and Wagner College.  We caught up with the speedy receiver and asked him about his decision:

PFN: why did you choose to commit to the Warriors?

Benny: I chose to commit to the warriors because I wanted to be apart of something special, I believe in this team and I know I’ll be happy for the next 4 years.  Knowing East Stroudsburg was close to home so my family could see me play, the attitude the coaching staff preaches and the tradition of the program.

PFN: who was your biggest influence at ESU, who recruited you?

Benny: My biggest influence was definitely Coach Terwiliger and how much he cares for his players and the team. Pretty much the whole coaching staff recruited me, but mainly Coach Castillo and Coach Terwiliger.

PFN: what do your parents think of your decision?

Benny: ESU will get these things in a player like me, extreme focus, I will do anything the team needs me to do to help us win, a great source of football IQ and heart.

PFN: what are they getting in player like you?

Benny: My parents are beyond happy that I’m staying local and playing for Coach Terwiliger and the warriors. After my official visit there in January both my parents were sold.

PFN: what position will you play?

Benny: I will be mainly a Speedy Wide Receiver who will focus on run after catch but also may be featured at defensive back.

PFN: what was the recruiting process like for you?

Benny: The recruiting process was a long, stressful journey. It helped me develop real communication skills to work in the real world.

PFN: Do you know what you’d like to study?

Benny: Im going in undecided but, I’m interested in psychology, criminal justice and sports medicine.

PFN: What do you think is the most exciting thing about East Stroudsburg?

Benny: I think the most excited thing about ESU is the tradition of the team. Coach Douds built a hell of a program and Coach Terwiliger is doing everything in his power to help this program take that great next step. All of the guys are just hungry and ready to win.

PFN: Tell everyone out there in Warrior land something they’d never know about you until you told them:

Benny: Something about me that that warrior land might not know about me unless I told them is that I am the leader of a club called Aevidum, Latin for “I’ve got your back”. The club originated to break the stigma against anxiety, suicide, depression and to always show no one is ever alone.

PFN: Who is the person who most influenced you in your football career?

Benny: Who mostly influenced me in my football career is definitely my father. My dad, Glen Pembleton, was a state champion Wide Receiver at Becahi in 1988. He always preached to me that hard work, focus and confidence will always pay off.
