Vikings Pound Colts

Marian hosted the Williams Valley Vikings Friday Night. The Vikings came out on top winning 41-10.

Brady Evans scored the first touchdown of the night on a 24 yard pass from Bryce Herb which made the score 7-0. Marian, unable to move the ball, was forced to punt which put the Vikings on their own 10. The Vikings moved the ball downfield where Logan Williard would finish off the drive with a 26 yard pass from Herb which made it 14-0. The first quarter ended with the Vikings up 14-0.

The first minutes of the second quarter was a constant back and forth battle between the teams. But with a miscommunication on a punt the Vikings recovered it on Marians 10. Herb linked up with Jesse Engle for a 9 yard pass but with a failed extra point attempt made it 20-0. Marian, unable to move the ball again, is forced to punt. The Vikings made it down the field where Alex Achenbach ran it 1 yard in the endzone making the score 27-0.

The Vikings defense held Marian from scoring the whole first half. Right before halftime Herb ran it 46 yards to the endzone and with a successful two point conversion the Vikings now led 35-0.

Early in the third quarter Marian’s Mathew Martin ran it 1 yard for their first and only touchdown of the night making it 35-7. With a constant back and forth battle between the teams the Vikings second string linked together a drive where Gage Miller ran it in 12 yards in the endzone. Out of respect the Vikings kneed it instead of going for two or for an extra point attempt which made it 41-7. With just seconds to go Marian’s Mike Baloga was successful when he kicked a 35 yard field goal.
