Williams Valley Head Coach Steps down amid turmoil

This is not the time of the year you want to see a head coach step down. Steve Sedesse took over the top spot replacing Tim Savage in 2023. Sedesse stepped in and the success that Savage had there continued on with the Viking program with the team continuing to be ranked highly in the state each year. Williams Valley is currently ranked 6th in the state in 2A by PFN with its only loss coming to Schuylkill Haven in week 6. Sedesse resigned his position today per T102 Sports Now reporter Leroy Boyer
It seems this may be an ongoing saga not entirely of anyone’s fault, but more of everyone. According to our sources parents have been somewhat troublesome and the incident that led to Sedesse and his father, the DC for Williams Valley, being suspended for two games on Monday seemed to be the tipping point. There were, according to several eyewitnesses, arguments between the coaches and parents of players following that game. One of the players parents said the entire team threatened to not show up Friday for the game against Marian Catholic.

In the letter he claims he built a winning team on the field and off the field. According to our records Savage had already established the Vikings as a perennial contender but Sedesse, to his credit continued and built on that claim. He also claims he lost the ability to discipline players and that he never heard any complaints when he won games but fans and parents wanted him gone and cussed up a storm with him during his 6 losses.
Ben Acheff, the AD and an assistant coach, will assume the duties of interim Head Coach for now along with the rest of the staff. When reached for comment, Acheff said he was not permitted to comment on the situation.
